Another draft has come and gone, and another group of talented Bayou Bengals has moved on to the next level. There were seven LSU Tigers drafted in the 2025 NFL Draft, the most for LSU since 2022. Five more Tigers signed as undrafted free agents after the draft.
The 2025 NFL Draft was one filled with storylines, drama, and unpredictability. But there were no surprises when it came to the first left tackle to walk to the podium in Green Bay.
Seven LSU Tigers Drafted
Campbell Goes Fourth Overall
Despite the late criticism after four years of elite tape, Will Campbell managed to keep his detractors at (pause for dramatic effect) arm’s length. The New England Patriots selected the former LSU left tackle fourth overall in the first round of the draft.
Campbell was one of the rare true freshmen in LSU’s history to lock down a starting job before his first game in Tiger Stadium. Known for his skill and athleticism as a pass blocker, he was also extremely durable. The Monroe, LA native only missed one game in three years in Baton Rouge.
The Taylor Legacy Continues
The New York Jets selected tight end Mason Taylor, the son of Hall of Fame defensive end Jason Taylor, in the second round. The dependable target has the most catches from the tight end position in LSU’s history. Taylor could serve as a valuable safety net for the newly acquired Justin Fields as he gets acclimated to a new offense.
Campbell’s bookend teammate at right tackle, Emery Jones, was the next Tiger to go off the board in the third round. Jones also broke into the starting lineup as a freshman at LSU. The three-year starter went to Baltimore as the 91st overall pick. The Ravens have returning starters at both tackle positions, but Jones could immediately move into a backup role for either as a swing tackle.
Edges up Next
With both of LSU’s available offensive tackles off the board, it was a fitting coincidence that the next two LSU Tigers drafted were on the defensive edge. First, Denver picked defensive end Sai’vion Jones in the third round. In a bit of a surprise, Bradyn Swinson lasted until the fifth round when New England drafted him.
Both defensive ends were reliable leaders for LSU in recent years. Jones has prototypical size and violent hands, making him an intriguing prospect. Swinson is serviceable against the run, but he could be one of the steals of the draft with his speed off the edge.
Finally, LSU’s offensive guards Miles Frazier and Garrett Dellinger were picked in the fifth and seventh rounds, respectively. The Tigers are the first team to have four offensive linemen drafted in the same year since Michigan in 2020. Detroit chose Frazier, while Dellinger joined his Tiger teammate Jones in Baltimore.

Fan favorite and team leader Josh Williams signed with Tampa Bay. The well-rounded running back was second on the team in rushing yards and fifth in receiving yards in 2024. Although undersized, he’s also excellent in pass protection.
Zy Alexander was LSU’s most consistent cornerback last season, and he signed with the Seattle Seahawks. Former Wisconsin transfer defensive tackle Gio Paez chose to return to the Midwest, signing with the Chicago Bears. Safety Major Burns will join Paez in Chicago. Defensive end Paris Shand signed with Buffalo, and his versatility on the defensive line could help him earn a spot on the roster.
