Go Dawgs! We all know that when Kirby Smart tweets those words, it means a new commit for Georgia. We break down Jared Curtis, the nation’s #1 QB and the Dawgs’ latest commit.
Go Dawgs! Jared Curtis Commits to the G
Jared Curtis Recruiting Profile
Position: Quarterback
Height: 6’3.5″
Weight: 225
School: Nashville Christian
Other schools recruiting him: Alabama, Oregon
Reading Curtis’s recruiting profile, it’s safe to say that Curtis already has that Dawg in him.
“Should be viewed as one of the top signal callers in the 2026 cycle and a potential multi-year starter for a College Football Playoff contender that can connect on the deep shots and thrive in a structured environment. Smooth mechanics result in pin-point accuracy on the basic throws while a powerful base helps serve up lasers to both the second and third levels. Possesses not only the desired build for the position, but also elite pocket-passing qualities to go along with some slick athleticism.” – 247Sports
“The pure arm talent and playmaking ability give him one of the highest upsides in the 2026 cycle. Completed over 70% of his passes for 2,830 yards (11.1 yards per attempt) for 40 touchdowns and 3 interceptions while leading his team to a state title.” Capable of delivering impressive passes from several arm angles. Ball explodes off his hand. Plays with a gunslinging mentality and is not afraid to drive the football into tight windows over the middle of the field.” – On3
Projected 2026 Georgia Quarterback Room
Curtis will likely enroll early in January of 2026. The cupboard will be far from bare when he walks in. Here is the projected QB room as Spring Camp opens in 2026. We have the projected class each quarterback will be in for the 2026 season. Here are three quarterbacks on the roster who are most likely to challenge Curtis to be QB1 in 2026.
- Gunnner Stockton (Redshirt Senior): Stockton will be QB1 for the 2025 season. While he could go pro after the season, it seems more likely that Stockton would come into 2026 with another year and opportunity to secure himself as a first-round pick. If Georgia goes undefeated and wins an SEC and National Championship, the 2026 competition could be wide open. But we aren’t betting on that, yet.
- Ryan Puglisi: (Redshirt Sophomore): Puglisi came in the last time Georgia secured an early commitment from the #1 quarterback in the class. No, Puglisi wasn’t the top spot, that went to Dylan Raiola. Raiola also initially committed to the Dawgs in May of 2022. Let’s hope history doesn’t repeat itself.
- Ryan Montgomery (Sophomore): Montgomery was Georgia’s top prize in the Class of 2025. The Findlay, Ohio, native was a four-star commit, but he probably won’t see much time this season as he recovers from an ACL injury.
A History of Top Georgia Quarterbacks
Kirby Smart has been big game hunting for quarterbacks in recent seasons. Here is a look at his top-rated signed quarterbacks and those he missed on during his tenure.
2016
-
Signed: Jacob Eason (5-star, Lake Stevens, WA)
Initially committed under Mark Richt, Eason reaffirmed his commitment to Georgia after Smart’s hiring. He started as a freshman but lost the job to Jake Fromm in 2017 and later transferred to Washington.
2017
-
Signed: Jake Fromm (4-star, Warner Robins, GA)
Flipped from Alabama to Georgia (one of Smart’s few wins against the Tide). Fromm led the Bulldogs to the national title game as a freshman and was a three-year starter.
2018
-
Signed: Justin Fields (5-star, Kennesaw, GA)
Fields, the No. 2 overall recruit in the 2018 class, played sparingly (and on special teams) behind Fromm before transferring to Ohio State, where he became a Heisman finalist and first-round NFL Draft pick.
2019
-
Signed: Dwan Mathis (4-star, Oak Park, MI)
Flipped from Ohio State late in the cycle. Mathis started the 2020 season opener but transferred to Temple after limited playing time.
2020
-
Signed: Carson Beck (4-star, Jacksonville, FL)
Beck bided his time and was a two-year starter for the Dawgs. In January, he announced he was taking his talents to South Beach.
2021
-
Signed: Brock Vandagriff (5-star, Bogart, GA)
Initially committed to Oklahoma, Vandagriff flipped to Georgia. He was a backup before transferring to Kentucky in 2024 and retiring from football in 2025.
2022
-
Signed: Gunner Stockton (4-star, Tiger, GA)
Originally committed to South Carolina, Stockton flipped to Georgia.
2023
-
No quarterback signed
Missed: Arch Manning (2023)
Manning, the top quarterback in the 2023 class, chose Texas over Georgia. This one still hurts.
2024
-
Signed: Ryand Puglisis (4-Star, Avon Old Farms, CT)
-
Missed: Dylan Raiola (5-star, Chandler, AZ)
Initially committed to Ohio State, Raiola flipped to Georgia but ultimately signed with Nebraska.
2025
-
Signed: Ryan Montgomery (4-star, Findlay, OH)
