Giorgio Chiellini leaving Juventus

Star Italian centre-back Giorgio Chiellini will be leaving Juventus this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano. Major League Soccer clubs are pursuing Chiellini. As of now, two bids have been made, including one by Los Angeles FC. They are currently in first place in the MLS Western Conference. Romano also mentions that Juventus is definitely planning on signing a new centre-back this summer. As of now, the names are a mystery.

Chiellini’s proposed deal from Los Angeles FC will be a one-year deal, according to The Athletic. The report also mentions that the Vancouver Whitecaps are showing interest in the defender as well. Vancouver’s manager is Vanni Sartini, who also happens to be Italian.

Giorgio Chiellini Leaving Juventus and MLS Could be His Destination

A Club Legend

Chiellini joined Juventus from Livorno in 2004, meaning he’s been at the club for 18 years now. He spent the following season on loan at Fiorentina, but impressed mightily and was immediately brought back to Juventus.

The early years for Chiellini at Juventus were tough as the club was going through the Calciopoli scandal. Afterwards, however, it was dominant.

Chiellini lays claim to a boatload of trophies with the Bianconeri. This, of course, all comes domestically. The list includes nine Serie A titles, five Coppa Italia titles, and five Italian Super Cups. He also holds an impressive international record recently as a 2020 UEFA European champion and the Best Defender of the Competition award. Chiellini boasts over 100 appearances for Italy with eight goals to his name.

It’s safe to say that Chiellini is a Juventus legend. Time and time again, Chiellini is always there to perform admirably. He’s also the current captain, taking over from Gianluigi Buffon. Not only is he a talent on the pitch, but Chiellini serves as a leader for both club and country.

Juventus will see plenty of movement this summer. Besides Chiellini, this includes Paulo Dybala leaving. The club will definitely be restructuring this summer. As of now, however, there are no rumours regarding departures from other veterans such as Leonardo Bonucci.
