Alabama Adds Offensive Depth in Transfer Portal

May 2, 2025 by Last Word On College Football

Alabama offensive transfer portal

Alabama has made some key roster additions during the post-spring transfer portal window, especially when it pertains to offensive skill position players. The Crimson Tide has added talented players at running back, wide receiver, and tight end so far. With Ty Simpson expected to take over at quarterback, he will need all the capable playmakers surrounding him as Alabama adds offensive depth in the transfer portal.

Running back

Jam Miller is expected to be the Crimson Tide’s lead back for the upcoming season. He led Alabama running backs last season with 668 yards and seven touchdowns. However, Alabama needed to add some depth to the position. They have added Dre’lyn Washington from Louisiana. Last season for the Ragin’ Cajuns, he rushed for 478 yards and five touchdowns. He was the third back behind Bill Davis and Zylan Perry. In a 55-19 win over Arkansas State, Washington rushed for 123 yards on eight carries and scored two touchdowns. He caught six passes for 107 yards and one touchdown.

Wide Receiver

Alabama adds offensive depth and lands one of the best receivers in the transfer portal with the addition of Isaiah Horton from the Miami Hurricanes. Horton was third on the Hurricanes last season with 616 yards and second with 56 receptions. He had a stretch during the season where he went four straight games of scoring a touchdown. His best game of the season was against South Florida when he caught eight passes for 108 yards and one touchdown. 247Sports listed Horton as a four-star transfer portal prospect and the 16th-best receiver. He is a great addition to pair with Ryan Williams and Germie Bernard. Williams led the team last season with 865 yards and eight touchdowns. Bernard led the team with 50 catches. Alabama needed to add talent to the position after losing Kobe Prentice, Kendrick Law, and Emmanuel Henderson to the transfer portal after the season.

Tight End

Alabama stayed in the state to add a tight end. Brody Dalton is leaving the Troy Trojans to join the Crimson Tide team. Dalton started the final eight games of the season for Troy, catching 15 passes for 188 yards and three touchdowns. He was a two-star prospect out of high school from Fyffe, Alabama, but 247Sports rated him as a three-star prospect in the transfer portal. In the last five games of the season, he had 11 receptions for 152 yards and three touchdowns. In a 34-31 loss to Arkansas State, Dalton caught three passes for 68 yards and one touchdown. He started his college career at UAB in 2022. That season, he caught just four passes for 63 yards while playing for the Blazers.

Alabama also added West Virginia transfer tight end Jack Sammarco. He is coming off a freshman season where he caught just one pass for four yards. He is a three-star transfer portal prospect according to 247Sports. He could factor into the future of the team if not this upcoming season. Both Sammarco and Dalton will be competing with Josh Cuevas for playing time. Cuevas caught 16 passes for 218 yards and one touchdown last season. Whoever does start, it is another position where Alabama adds offensive depth.
