25-year-old woman fatally wounded in double shooting in South Shore

A 25 year-old woman was fatally wounded Friday night in a double shooting on the South Side in the South Shore neighborhood, Chicago police said. Shortly before midnight, officers responded to a call of a person shot in the 7700 block of South Essex Avenue and found the entry door of a building open. Indiana’s rising inmate population is throwing cold water on Michigan City officials’ eagerness to redevelop the Indiana State Prison once the new prison in Westville opens.
