Chicago Cubs Lineup (6/18/25): Game Postponed, Rescheduled as Split DH August 19

June 19, 2025 by Cubs Insider

I had already written it up, so just adding in the info that Wednesday’s game has been postponed and rescheduled as part of a day-night doubleheader on August 18.

There’s rain in the area and the forecast for this evening isn’t promising, so this game is in danger of being banged. Craig Counsell can’t be happy about that. If they are able to get it in, the Cubs have a chance to push their season-high 6.5-game lead even further against the Brewers.

Jameson Taillon has been incredible over his last five starts, allowing only seven earned runs in 33 innings and pitching up wins each time out. He’s had pretty much everything working well, but his new kick-change is particularly effective. His balanced repertoire allows him to attack hitters in a tailored fashion and gives him the ability to shift his strategy the second and third times through the order.

The Cubs offense came alive late in last night’s game after being largely silent against the Pirates, and back even further. Getting something going early would be great, but they may have a tall order there.

Opposing them is rookie Jacob Misiorowski, who is making just his second MLB start after blanking the Cardinals over five innings. He allowed no hits and struck out five, making his four walks inconsequential. The 6-foot-7 righty gets huge extension, making his 99 mph fastball play up even more. His 94 mph slider is his best weapon, then he’s got an 88 mph curve and a 92 mph changeup. The dude throws HARD, and he throws well.

If there’s any question about whether the Brewers have any talent coming up, Misiorowski was only their No. 4 prospect prior to being promoted. He looks kind of like Zack Greinke was stretched out by a taffy puller, but his nasty stuff doesn’t really compare. The big weakness is control, as Misiorowski has always been prone to walks. But, as noted earlier, that hasn’t really hurt him because hitters can’t barrel him up enough to make him pay.

We’ll see if the Cubs’ patience will give them enough of a window tonight, or whether Misiorowski gets a little jittery pitching at Wrigley. It’s kind of wild to me that this guy had to go the juco route with Crowder Junior College, but maybe he was just a late bloomer. I’m really hoping the weather holds off because I want to see this kid pitch.

Between him, Cade Horton, and Paul Skenes, the NL Central has got some serious arm talent that should be around for years. First pitch is scheduled for 8:05pm CT on Marquee and 670 The Score, but keep an eye out for updates.
