Three-star prospect Landyn Colyer talks summer hoops, updates recruitment

KANSAS CITY, KS — Overtime Elite guard Landyn Colyer has a game that’s all about motor. He plans on showcasing that over the summer.

“I’m an energy guy,” Colyer told ZAGSBLOG. “I give it on offense and defense. I can get to the basket. I can shoot, and I do whatever it takes to win.”

The 6-foot-6 guard is averaging 10.5 points, 1.6 assists and 4.4 rebounds per game at Nike EYBL for the Florida Rebels, who stand at 6-5.

“I’m just trying to win games,” Colyer said. “Trying to get to Peach Jam and hopefully win Peach Jam. Just trying to get recruited, get my name out there and get more exposure and things like that.”

Colyer’s energy on the court has garnered the attention of multiple programs during the AAU season, including Northwestern, New Mexico State, Ole Miss and UCF. He has recently received offers from DePaul, Louisiana, Northwestern and New Mexico State. Colyer has taken unofficial visits to South Carolina, UCF and USF, as well as an official visit to Ole Miss.

As of now, he does not have any visits scheduled, but he’d like to set them up with a “bunch of schools.”

“The schools that have been on me the most are Ole Miss, UCF, Northwestern and I’d say New Mexico State,” Colyer said. “It’s been really good, you know, building a relationship with these coaches. They’re all really good people. Really good coaches, and they just expect the best out of me and they say they have really high expectations for me. They just want me to succeed.”

Colyer hopes to have a list of schools he’s considering by the end of Peach Jam, but he’s not certain on an exact timetable as of yet.

What he does know, however, is he expects whichever school he ends up choosing to have a “family like environment.”

“I’m looking to go into it as a second family,” Colyer said. “Like coaches believing in me, players that are going to push me. It’s got to be like a brotherhood. I want to win and be able to impact in anyway that I can to win a game.”

When he plays this summer, Colyer wants coaches to see someone who’s focused on one thing and one thing only: winning.

“I want them to see that I can play at a really high level,” Colyer said. “And then I’m going to compete. Compete at a really high level. I’m going to do whatever it takes to win.”

Colyer is ranked the No. 131 overall prospect in the 2026 class by 247Sports. His favorite player is Michael Jordan, his favorite music genre is R&B and his favorite hobbies outside of basketball are walking and playing video games.
