Where were you 20 years ago?
That’s the question we asked White Sox fans on the anniversary of Game 2 of the 2005 World Series, where Paul Konerko sent the South Side into a frenzy with his seventh-inning grand slam.
Below are memories our followers have shared from the unforgettable moment, which was soon followed by Scott Podsednik’s walk-off home run. Comment where you were on October 23, 2005 to be featured!
In my old apartment. Just tonight, my wife wanted to get rid of the old TV I watched it on. I told her, “No, it has sentimental value.”
Section 101, row 18, seat 21 on the aisle – watched Scott Podsednik’s homer come straight at us.
LOL! For some reason, I went to the kitchen and missed the slam! It’s been a running joke in my house for 20 years.
Screaming at my TV down here in Southwest Florida. When we won, I asked God to give me two more hours cause a hurricane was starting. Then, a half hour after we won, the power started flicking and then went out. I always said God held it back so I could watch our boys win it all!
Right-center field bleachers. One section over from the Scott Podsednik winner.

Down the 3rd base line. When it went out, that park exploded. Best sports moment of my life.
Sitting in upper deck right behind the plate. I’ll never forget it.
I was 53 years old at that time. Started out as a Cub fan but rejected that lifelong habit in 1992 when the dummies didn’t resign Gregg Maddux! Took only 13 years waiting on the White Sox to finally see a Chicago team in the World Series. Their run through that postseason was amazing.
Right behind the Astros bullpen!

At the park going crazy! Section 138, just up from the Sox dugout.
I was on my couch nursing a newborn and watching the game! What a year it was!!!
At the game. I’ve attended many professional sports games. This was by far the most exciting moment I ever witnessed.
Section 158, row 8, seat 13 next to my dad. Best sports moment I’ve ever seen live.
Visiting kin on vacation in North Carolina. I was watching by myself.
At home, wishing my dad was there to watch with me. Miss you dad, RIP.
Called off work to watch this game at home. I called in a lot during the playoffs and World Series run.
Sitting in front of my TV in Stewartstown, Pennsylvania.
There! Left field.
At the game. Game 2 of the 2005 World Series is my crown jewel of sports that I was in attendance for.
I was there … section 139, row 25, seat 10.
At this game! It was awesome.
Section 129, baby! It was glorious!
The United Center screening. I’m glad they won it the night I was there. The place went wild.
I was there. The weather was terrible but the cheering warmed you up for sure!
Section 134, row 17, seat 1. What a night!
I remember jumping and screaming like crazy at the house. It was absolute madness.
Jumping off my couch in disbelief.
Working the 7-7 shift at the hospital, watching in a patient’s room.
In Iowa at some small town bar. Only person that kept it open that night was me and our family. In town to visit my aunt at a hospital, needed some drinks after .
