Plus the scoring system

On Saturday, the spring practice session will come to an end for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish with the Blue-Gold game. Obviously, the biggest storyline of the spring has been the QB battle between Steve Angeli, Kenny Minchey, and CJ Carr. Fans from all over the country will have a chance to see for themselves how this competition is stacking up for 2025.

Not that we’ll have a definitive answer — but something is something as it’s not nothing.

There’s plenty more to watch, so sit back and relax while you soak in the last bits of Notre Dame football until August.

WHEN, WHERE, AND HOW TO WATCH

When: Saturday, April 12 @ 2:00 PM EST
Where: Notre Dame Stadium, South Bend, Indiana
How to watch: Peacock

SCORING SYSTEM

Because of the mounting injury list to go along with Notre Dame’s desire/need to sit a handful of players for the spring game, it will be Offense VS Defense with an altered scoring system.

NOTES

Some game notes provided by Notre Dame:

• Saturday will mark the 94th edition of the Blue-Gold Game presented by Meijer and the fourth spring game of the Marcus Freeman era.

• The Blue-Gold Game has been played officially since 1968. Prior to 1968, it was called the “Old-Timer’s Game,” and pitted the current team against alumni.

• The game will be offense (blue) vs. defense (gold).

• The offense (blue) will be led by John and Bobbie Arlotta Offensive Coordinator and tight ends coach Mike Denbrock, and the defense (gold) will be led by Bob Hinton Defensive Coordinator Chris Ash.

• The game will be three periods with two eight-minute intermissions. Each period will consist of four drives for a total of twelve drives.

• For each drive, the ball will be placed at various spots to create game-like situations.

• Quarterbacks will not be live for the scrimmage, and will wear green jerseys. Offense will wear blue jerseys, and defense and specialists will wear white jerseys.

• There will be a 90-second break after each series, and an eight-minute intermission after series No. 4 and No. 8.

• The offense and defense will have three timeouts each for the entire scrimmage.

• Each drive will consist of a minimum of six plays.
