Boom baby
The Notre Dame football roster is full of great players — known and unknown. No matter the place on the depth chart or the recruiting ranking a player had attached to him before his arrival at Notre Dame — there are probably some things I really like about him. So over the course of the next few months, let’s take a positive approach to running down the roster.
Almost daily (just being honest) I’ll list three things I like about a single player on the roster, and as an additional bonus, I’ll post some extra pics over on the OFD Instagram account (be sure to follow RIGHT HERE).

#17 Cam Williams — Wide Receiver
Cam Williams only saw the playing field in one game last season (Virginia Cavaliers) but he could make a big move this year for the Irish. The 6’2” 200 pound sophomore chose the Irish over a big list of schools that included the Michigan Wolverines, Michigan State Spartans, Iowa Hawkeyes, and more — and was ranked as a 5-Star by On3.
Here are three things I like about Cam Williams:
1. I like his potential.
Nowadays, when people see five stars next to a player’s name, they automatically think the player should be making a massive impact right away. Of course that’s something we all want, but the bigger thing to highlight is that it means there is a ton of potential for the player. That’s what William’s is right now — potential, and that’s something easy to like.
Cam Williams is the most talented WR to sign with Notre Dame in some time. Outstanding combination of size and athleticism to go with strong senior film https://t.co/nACmFfD3Qf pic.twitter.com/scTA2uaX3V https://t.co/fdSiVgSCcm

2. He’s faster than you think.
Maybe you already think he’s fast, but thinking is one thing — seeing it is another. His high school film is loaded with him consistently running away from defenders with ease. One of the particular things about the game of football is we often times talk about “track speed” vs “speed in pads” and the difference between the two. The biggest difference (most times) is that a player gets faster in pads when they know what they’re doing… and he feels like he gets it now.

3. I like that he’s about to make the jump.
Maybe this is cheating and this goes with the “potential” thing — but I don’t care. Williams and his coaches at Notre Dame feel like he’s not just ready to make the jump, but that he’s actually doing it after a really good spring. Again… knowing what to do on the field will make you faster on the field, and it allows for natural athleticism to shine through. It could be an eye-opening season in 2025.
Notre Dame WRs coach Mike Brown called Irish sophomore Cam Williams “a completely different guy” this spring compared to last.
Williams gets his licks in vs. Leonard Moore now. Didn’t used to happen.
