The Notre Dame football roster is full of great players — known and unknown. No matter the place on the depth chart or the recruiting ranking a player had attached to him before his arrival at Notre Dame — there are probably some things I really like about him. So over the course of the next few months, let’s take a positive approach to running down the roster.
Almost daily (just being honest) I’ll list three things I like about a single player on the roster, and as an additional bonus, I’ll post some extra pics over on the OFD Instagram account (be sure to follow RIGHT HERE).

#10 Loghan Thomas — Defensive End
The journey of Loghan Thomas to Notre Dame is epic — at least in the sense of major high school football. Thomas began his high school career in Katy, Texas, and ended up at one of the nation’s premier programs — St. Edward High School in Lakewood, Ohio. He chose the Irish and to be part of Notre Dame’s 2024 football recruiting class over a long list of national suitors.
Here are 3 things I like about Loghan Thomas:
1. He’s a 2 state king.
It’s not just that Thomas performed at a high level in two different states… it’s that those two states just so happen to be two of the best football states in the country. It’s not like he balled out in Idaho and then Rhode Island — this is Texas and Ohio.

2. Day 1 contributor.
I know it felt kind of quiet, but Thomas played in 15 games (did not see action against the Florida State Seminoles) and raked up 7 tackles — which included 1.5 sacks. No redshirt needed as he came to Notre Dame ready to play, and earned the trust of Marcus Freeman and Al Golden.
Notre Dame freshman DE Loghan Thomas (10) needs to keep outside leverage, but he flashes his athleticism and makes up for it quickly. Thomas is a player Marcus Freeman felt could help on the edge in 2024 following in the injury to Jordan Botelho. KVA: Physical pic.twitter.com/gbnxa5Xwwx

3. I like a good pair.
Getting a good edge player in a recruiting class is always awesome. Getting two… well that is something spectacular. While Notre Dame will absolutely rotate all along the defensive line, Thomas will be a big part of that again in 2025, and doing it with a guy like Bryce Young or a guy like Boubacar Traore on the other side is something we can really look forward to.
Notre Dame ST coach Marty Biagi on Bryce Young: “It is a weapon to have that guy on our kickoff team. He is a problem.”
Biagi also praised the special teams work of fellow freshman defensive end Loghan Thomas.
