Three things I like about Notre Dame CB #18 Chance Tucker

Still plenty of potential

The Notre Dame football roster is full of great players — known and unknown. No matter the place on the depth chart or the recruiting ranking a player had attached to him before his arrival at Notre Dame — there are probably some things I really like about him. So over the course of the next few months, let’s take a positive approach to running down the roster.

Almost daily (just being honest) I’ll list three things I like about a single player on the roster, and as an additional bonus, I’ll post some extra pics over on the OFD Instagram account (be sure to follow RIGHT HERE).

Next up…

#18 Chance Tucker — Cornerback

Chance Tucker, a 6’1” 184 pound senior from Crespi Carmelite High School in Encino, California, chose the Irish over programs like the Washington Huskies, Oregon State Beavers, Boise State Broncos, and others. Notre Dame certainly has a preference for rangy corners — but Tucker also possesses a lot of speed as he qualified for state in both the 200m and 400m.

Here are three things I like about Chance Tucker:

1. Talking about the body talk.

As we said… Notre Dame prefers a certain body type at corner, and Tucker fits the mold with his 6’1” 184 pound frame.

2. On the comeback trail.

Tucker missed the entire 2024 season with a torn ACL as well as the spring practice season. In 2023 Tucker was starting to earn playing time here and there, so there is a light at the end of the tunnel if he gets healthy — which is a huge motivator to getting healthy. Players with chips on their shoulders and players fighting to get back in line are generally a favorite of mine. Be hungry and stay hungry.

3. Plenty of time to make an impact.

Tucker still has two years of eligibility remaining — which is plenty of time to help make an impact at Notre Dame. Maybe the best case scenario is playing well enough in 2025 to have a nice list of transfer portal options for 2026 (said with a ton of respect and hope that he can make a comeback strong enough to do so).
