This guy also has a pretty cool name.
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish have a roster full of players, and we want to talk about them all. One Foot Down’s player profile series will, once again, take a look at every single one of them, and hopefully we all learn a little bit more about these guys, and Notre Dame’s chances for the upcoming 2021 season.
#20 C’Bo Flemister, RB
This running back came to South Bend from Williamson, Georgia, and made the 247Sports.com rankings as the no. 83 running back in the nation and the no. 135 player from Georgia. In his first season wearing the Gold and Blue, Flemister only took the field for two games, but saw action nine times the following season and rushed 48 times for 162 yards and 5 touchdowns in all.
As a junior, Flemister chalked up a career-best 127 rushing yards and a TD in the South Florida game, including a 31-yard rush in the fourth quarter. In the Boston College game, he rushed 10 times for 53 yards and a career-high two TDs in one game. Flemister received the game ball for his Boston College showing.
Flemister’s running style is what has set him apart in the Notre Dame running back room over the last few years. He fights for every yard and has become known to be a tough guy to get down to the ground. While he lacks the top end speed and explosion we all drool over when it comes to a running back, the way he plays the game and his unselfishness has endeared him to the staff and to fans.
The Restaurant That Fits
Going with Chick-Fil-A. What were those chicken sandwich wars all about? While I realize Flemister isn’t the most experienced at RB, Flemister is there when it matters. Now I want nuggets…
Ahead of the 2020 season, this running back had the reactivity and the mindset to make an impact, but just needed to distinguish himself from the other Irish running backs. Flemister’s delivered in his performance against Boston College and served as the right replacement for Kyren Williams in a jam. In the season ahead, fans should expect Flemister to stay consistent in delivering the tough yards when needed. He’ll have a battle on his hands when Audric Estime arrives at Notre Dame in June, but his experience will definitely give him an edge.
