Here comes the NFL Draft, and in case anyone forgot, Notre Dame is historically the greatest college football program in the country for providing NFL Draft picks. Notre Dame is #1 all-time in overall draft picks with 532 (two ahead of the USC Trojans).
Here are some numbers to think about:
- All-time NFL Draft Picks —532.
- Pro Football Hall of Famers — 14.
- Notre Dame players currently on an NFL roster: 46.
- Notre Dame players selected in the first round of the NFL Draft — 71 ranking fourth among all programs.
- Notre Dame players selected No. 1 overall — 5 tied for second among all programs.
- Notre Dame has the longest streak in college football of at least one player drafted at 86 straight years.
- Notre Dame has had a player drafted in 88 of the 89 years (only shutout in 1937).
- Notre Dame currently has 46 players on NFL rosters.

The Irish will look to add to its record number of draft picks this weekend. Based off of a number of different 7 round mock drafts, we should probably expect at least 6 Notre Dame players drafted — but it could be maybe as high as 9.
The Irish players eligible for the draft are:
- DT Howard Cross III
- DT Rylie Mills
- CB Benjamin Morrison
- S Xavier Watts
- DB Jordan Clark
- QB Riley Leonard
- LB Jack Kiser
- DE RJ Oben
- WR Beaux Collins
- RB Devyn Ford
- WR Kris Mitchell
- S Rod Heard
- TE Mitchell Evans
- WR Jayden Harrison
- K Mitch Jeter
- ATH Max Hurleman
People focus on “position U” titles, and the Irish are right up there with the most running backs, tight ends, and offensive lineman selected in the NFL Draft. That’s certainly cool, but owning those top spots along with the most draft picks overall give Notre Dame the better title of “NFL Draft U.”
It’s math.
