On Tuesday, Notre Dame cornerback Micah Bell announced his decision to enter the transfer portal.

Bell, a freshman CB in 2023, played in 3 games over the course of the season. He recorded one tackle (1 TFL) against the Oregon State Beavers in Notre Dame’s Sun Bowl victory.
The Houston, Texas, native was heavily recruited in high school by most of the SEC powers which now includes his home state Texas Longhorns. His brother is a sophomore wide receiver with the Georgia Bulldogs, and although Bell held an offer from Kirby Smart, the Dawgs were never really in play.
Coming out of high school, Micah was a 4-Star CB and a top 250 player nationwide. Despite his high ranking, it was said that Bell will need some time to develop as a quality CB in college football.
Will arrive in college very raw from a position-specific technical perspective. May need time to adjust to the corner spot vs. high-major competition. Size / build could present a liability vs. bigger, stronger wideouts.
Could potentially provide an early option on special teams, whether returning kicks or covering them. Athleticism and playmaking knack could make him a special teams demon.
Despite relative lack of corner-specific experience, overall profile reflective of NFL Draft success in recent years in regards to extensive offensive touches and elite track and field profile. Projects as a high-major prospect with a long-term NFL Draft ceiling.
Good luck to Micah in the future wherever he may go.
Notre Dame is looking a little thin at cornerback right now and still need more depth at nickelback to go along with transfer Jordan Clark. Incoming freshmen Karson Hobbs and Leonard Moore dod not enroll early and will be in South Bend in June. This is the second member of the secondary to transfer out this spring as Clarence Lewis hit the portal and ended up with the Syracuse Orange.
