Notre Dame and Eastern Michigan finally found a break in the weather this season to play a baseball game. When it was all said and done, the Irish tallied their 30th win of the season in a 12-10 victory over the Eagles.

Irish Clip Eagles to Reach 30-Win Mark

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Notre Dame baseball team held off Eastern Michigan for a 12-10 victory as the Irish secured their 30th win of the 2025 campaign on Tuesday evening.

Eastern Michigan took the early lead with a run in the top of the first, but the Irish quickly erased the deficit to go ahead 3-1. DM Jefferson and Carson Tinney each drew walks and advanced on a balk, and Davis Johnson drove in Jefferson with a groundout the other way. Parker Brzustewicz then used a single to plate Tinney. Connor Hincks laced a two-out double to left-center field, and Estevan Moreno put Notre Dame up 3-1 with a single to drive in Hincks.

The home side plated three more runs in the bottom of the third. Jefferson and Tinney hit back-to-back singles, and an errant throw on a pick-off attempt allowed the pair to score. Connor Hincks later drove in Davis Johnson with an RBI single to right field for a 6-1 advantage.

The Eagles cut into the Irish lead with a pair of runs in both the third and fourth innings of action. After a scoreless fifth, the Irish ballooned their lead to 12-5 with a six-run sixth inning. Notre Dame sent ten batters to the dish in the inning and used three hits, two walks, and a hit batter to push six across. Davis Johnson picked up an RBI with a fielder’s choice, and Parker Brzustewicz drove in two with a single up the middle. Connor Hincks added another RBI to his day with a single to center field, and Estevan Moreno belted a triple to the left-center gap to drive in another run. Brady Gumpf capped off the scoring with a sacrifice fly for the 12-5 lead.

Eastern Michigan used a run in the seventh, a run in the eighth, and three in the ninth to pull within 12-10. Tobey McDonough, however, closed out the game with the save to lift the Irish to their 30th win of the 2025 season.

Kellan Klosterman went 2.2 innings and struck out a pair in a no-decision start. Justin Mayes Jr. and Chase Van Ameyde combined for an inning-plus before Xavier Hirsch came on in relief. Hirsch went 2.1 and allowed no runs on two hits while earning the win on the night. Keenan Mork, Dylan Heine, and Jack Walker each faced at least three batters in the contest. Tobey McDonough earned his eighth save of the season after going two-third on the hill and striking out one.

Connor Hincks was 3-for-4 with a double, two RBI, a walk, and a run while Estevan Moreno was 3-for-5 with a triple, two RBI, and a run. Parker Brzustewicz went 2-for-4 with three RBI, a walk, and a run. DM Jefferson and Carson Tinney each had a hit and scored three times while Jefferson drew three walks in the contest. Brady Gumpf added a hit, two walks, and an RBI. Davis Johnson drove in a run and scored twice in the win.

The Irish (30-19) conclude their regular season slate of competition with an ACC series at Miami. The three-game stint begins on Thursday night at 7:00 p.m.
