It’s fine
You can’t have college football without polls, and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish are sitting in a great spot in the preseason Coaches Poll which was just published on Monday. Notre Dame is ranked #5 in the country in the initial polls.
There’s some history in the preseason US LBM Coaches Poll with Texas taking the No. 1 ranking to start the college football season for the first time.

While I do take some issue with both the Georgia Bulldogs and the Penn State Nittany Lions ranked ahead of Notre Dame, it really doesn’t matter (obviously).
For those that will annually shout about Notre Dame “always” being overrated, the Irish started the season ranked #7 and finished ranked #2. Even though my hatred of math burns like a billion suns, I used a little bit of my math skills to come to the conclusion that Notre Dame was NOT overrated to start the 2024 season.
We will have to wait and see how that math works out this season. The Irish return a legitimate Hesiman candidate in running back Jeremiyah Love, a strong offensive line, and one of the best defensive depth charts in all of college football.
The Irish have three opponents ranked inside the preseason top 25 with #10 Miami Hurricanes, #21 Texas A&M Aggies, and #25 Boise State Broncos.
