Looking at a postseason
Just a month ago, it looked like the Notre Dame Fighting Irish baseball team was destined to finish in the basement of the ACC. Since April 15th, however, the Irish have gone 10-2 overall and 8-1 in ACC play. In Notre Dame’s last ACC series, the Irish split the first two games against the #17 ranked Louisville Cardinals, and won the rubber match on Sunday to make it 3 ACC series wins in a row.
It was somewhat easy to dismiss the sweeps against Stanford and Cal, but that series win over Louisville really made a statement that the Irish are much better than they were to start the year — and maybe they’re ready to make some noise in the postseason.
With one ACC series left on the schedule for Notre Dame (Miami Hurricanes at Coral Gables), they are 11th in the conference.

If the Irish can somehow manage to sweep Miami (very low odds but hey… it can happen) they have a real chance at finishing in the top 8 of the ACC — which could mean a great deal for the upcoming postseason.
Here’s a look at the 2025 ACC baseball tournament, which runs May 20-25 at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park in Durham, North Carolina. Follow along here for the bracket, schedule, game times and scores.
Ahead of the season, the event was expanded to a 16-team, single-elimination format, with the No. 5-8 seeds receiving a first-round bye and the top four seeds earning a bye to the quarterfinals.
In the 2024 tournament, Duke knocked off Florida State to capture the conference title, its second tournament title in program history.

Before the Irish get to Miami, however, they have a slate of MAC games to get through first (3 vs Bowling Green and 1 vs Eastern Michigan).
It’s an exciting time for the Irish, and a time that was definitely not in the cards earlier this year. Shawn Stiffler seems to be pushing the right buttons at the right time, and I’m ready to see Notre Dame make some noise.
