It’s been a little over a decade since Alabama beat Notre Dame in the 2013 BCS National Championship Game.
That year, the Fighting Irish went into the game as the top-ranked team in the country and was undefeated before getting routed, losing by 28 to the Crimson Tide in a 42-14 blowout.
Recently, former Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te’o opened up about the way Alabama came out for the game since there was only one tunnel. He discussed how his teammates looked to be spooked by the way Alabama came out.
“I remember silence behind me. I glance back at my teammates and the eyes on them were so large, I knew at that time, this is gonna be a long day,” Te’o said.
Former Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron. who played in that game, saw those comments and agreed with what Te’o said while also calling that Notre Dame team “weak.”
“He is RIGHT about that. They never flinched or even got started. They stayed completely still, while we came flying off the starting line. Manti was one hell of a player and ND had some great players. I’m not bashing them but that Notre Dame team as a whole was WEAK,” McCarron tweeted.
McCarron finished the game with 264 passing yards and four touchdowns. Notre Dame had no answer for anything Alabama did on both sides of the ball.
Alabama took home the national title and continued to cement Nick Saban’s legacy as one of the best coaches in college football history.
