Arsenal Manager

Arsenal’s men’s team are currently embroiled in a fascinating battle for the top four whilst the women’s team are fighting for the Women’s Super League title right down until the final day. The latter have to hope that Manchester United Women do them a favour and get a result against Chelsea. Meanwhile, the former have beaten aside some close rivals so as to hold on to fourth in the Premier League. Off the back of all this, both Mikel Arteta and Jonas Eidevall have signed new contracts in their respective roles as Arsenal manager and Arsenal Women manager.

Mikel Arteta is Here to Stay

Mikel Arteta experienced several bumps in the road in the early stages of his tenure as Arsenal manager. It seemed that the Spaniard would suffer a similar fate to his countryman Unai Emery. The club stuck with him though and this decision is now paying dividends. At the start of the season, a return to Champions League football was nothing but a pipe dream. With four games left in the season though, Mikel Arteta and Arsenal are the ones to beat. He has been duly rewarded for this.

Under immense pressure, Mikel Arteta has led his side to wins against Chelsea, Manchester United and West Ham United in recent weeks. The trio are all in the hunt for the top four along with the Gunners, as are Tottenham Hotspur. Talking of Spurs, there is a North London derby on the horizon that is set to have massive ramifications. Arsenal in fourth are two points ahead of Antonio Conte’s side and the pair will meet after Arsenal face Leeds United this weekend. Mikel Arteta has done oh so well to this point and he’ll be glad to know that his future at the Emirates is ensured no matter what the outcome.

Mikel Arteta isn’t the only Arsenal manager to have had their faith repaid by the club recently. The women’s team may not be matching that early season form that saw them fly out of the blocks at the top of the tree. That being said, to keep fighting with this Chelsea side led by Emma Hayes until the final day is some achievement in itself. Both the Swede and Mikel Arteta are exceeding expectations with the club.

Australian international Steph Catley recently had her new contract announced by the club and now her manager is joining her. There were some question marks over Eidevall a few months back and some eyebrows were definitely raised when Tobin Heath departed. These potential issues seem to be something of the past now and whether they win the title or not, Arsenal are in good stead going forward.

The men’s team at Arsenal are going in the right direction under Mikel Arteta and the same goes for their female counterparts under Jonas Eidevall. It is an exciting team to be involved with the Gunners and the managerial pair have new contracts to show for it!
