The Wildcats bolster their depth with a versatile, high-level 2025 signing class.
With less than a month until kickoff, Northwestern women’s soccer is ready for the fall season. The 2025 signing class offers a blend of experienced leadership, top-tier credentials and international flair to Evanston. This group aims to improve its competitiveness in the Big Ten, looking to bounce back from last season’s disappointment, during which the team recorded a 1-8-2 conference record.
Let’s dive into every signee’s profile.
Nyamma Nelson (Goalkeeper)
Following Madison Howard and Gina Muzi’s graduation, the Wildcats landed an All-American talent goalkeeper to fill the spot. Nelson was a four-year varsity player at West Linn High School (West Linn, Ore.), earning Team MVP honors as a sophomore and captaining the team as a junior during a run to the state championship final. She is expected to bring an elite-level pedigree to Northwestern.
On the national stage, Nelson has been repeatedly called into the U.S. U-18 Youth National Team camps. The 2007-born goalkeeper is among the 24 players in her age group training toward the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Poland.

Nelson also spent seven years with the club, Portland Thorns Academy, and was an ECNL Second Team nominee. She’ll look to compete early for time in goal and add depth to NU’s future between the posts.
Audrey Alberts (Defender)
The Illinois native played as a center back and midfielder during his junior year at Highland Park High School (Highland, Ill.), scoring eight goals and recording three assists in the 2023-24 season. This achievement contributed to the school’s first-ever playoff victory. At the club level, she spent seven years with Chicago FC United and was selected seven times for the Girls Academy National Talent ID camp.

Alberts demonstrated the ability to face opponents one-on-one and bring toughness to the defense. She also has a strong understanding of the game, enabling her to make clean passes forward that initiate attacks. Ranked 39th nationally at her position by Prep Soccer, Alberts offers NU with talent and versatility.
Gabby Anderson (Defender)
As a steady presence on the backline, Anderson was a four-year varsity starter at The Bishop’s School (San Diego, Calif.) and earned First-Team Coastal League honors as a senior. She will find it easy to build chemistry with NU’s squad, having played 12 years for San Diego Surf alongside current Wildcats Kennedy Roesch and Tanna Schornstein. Her experience in high-level club competition makes her a reliable addition to the Wildcats’ defensive depth.
Selma Sol Sigurjonsdottir (Defender)
The Wildcats’ latest signee from Iceland. Sigurjonsdottir joins Northwestern after an accomplished professional career in Iceland with Fimleikafélag Hafnarfjarðar, Haukar and Íþróttafélag Hafnarfjarðar, scoring 16 goals in 82 appearances across all competitions. In 2024, the Icelandic outlet Vísir named her a player to watch in the Besta Deildin, Iceland’s top soccer league.
Keira Kemmerly (Midfielder)
Kemmerly was a three-time All-Central League First-Team selection and the league MVP runner-up as a senior at Conestoga High School (Berwyn, Pa.), where she posted 13 goals and 15 assists. She also helped Penn Fusion Soccer Academy win a 2024 North Atlantic Conference title during her eight-year club career. As a ranked midfielder (161st) by Prep Soccer, Kemmerly brings strong technical skills and field vision.

She helped lead her team to a regional championship and was also a varsity golfer from her sophomore year on. Cardwell played eight years with Chicago Inter, where she won two Illinois State Cups and a National League Regional Championship, bringing a winning pedigree to Evanston.
