The quarterback search is over.
Graduate transfer Mike Wright committed to Northwestern with one year of eligibility left, ESPN’s Pete Thamel announced Thursday morning.
Wright spent three years at Vanderbilt before playing one at Mississippi State. Wright is finally a Wildcat, after initially deciding to start his collegiate career at Vanderbilt instead of Northwestern.

The dual-threat quarterback will have to compete with sixth-year Ryan Hilinski and redshirt sophomore Jack Lausch for the starting spot, but Wright brings established SEC experience.
He has 14 career starts, with 11 coming as a Commodore and three as a Bulldog. Through these starts and 38 total games, White has culminated 3,479 yards and 34 touchdowns.
In his senior season at MSU, Wright threw for 453 yards and had three touchdowns. While it wasn’t the most impressive season, he was coming off a successful year in Nashville where he led the Commodores to victories over No. 24 Kentucky and Florida.
Wright was voted a captain in his 2022 season at Vanderbilt, where he totaled 12 touchdowns, 974 passing yards and 71 carries while rushing for 517 yards.
David Braun appears to have found a quarterback in the SEC veteran.
