Class of 2025 four-star shooting guard Brandon Lee has committed to Illinois, per his Instagram page.
Lee — the 6-foot-2 guard from The Patrick School (NJ) and the New York Renaissance Nike EYBL AAU program — committed after his official visit this past weekend.
“I chose Illinois because I felt that they had the necessary resources for me to continue to grow as a basketball player but most importantly as a student and person overall,” Lee told On3. “Coach [Brad] Underwood, coach [Orlando] Antigua and the entire staff were extremely welcoming and they emphasized a number of ways in which they can take my game to the next level and help me achieving my dream of being a pro.”
The shooting guard joins another four-star prospect — Keaton Wagler — in Illinois’ 2025 recruiting class. Illinois is the only team in the Big 10 so far to land two top-150 recruits.
Lee starred for the NY Rens this summer and led the team in scoring. At Peach Jam, the guard averaged 18.8 points and 3.4 rebounds per game.
“I feel like I’m a three-level scorer,” Lee previously told ZAGSBLOG.com. “I can score from each part of the court and I feel like I use my strength pretty well to also get free throws. I have the ability to hit clutch 3-pointers and can just get to the free throw line, which not many people can do.”
Lee has been a four-year varsity player at the Patrick School.
“Brandon has not only made his mark as an outstanding athlete, but is on track to become the all-time leading scorer, solidifying his legacy among the greats of our storied program,” Patrick School coach Chris Chavannes told ZAGSBLOG. “In our brief history, we’ve proudly produced numerous NBA players, NCAA champions, G-League MVP and conference MVPs, and Brandon exemplifies the talent and dedication that continues this tradition of excellence. I am immensely proud of him and grateful for the journey we’ve shared since ninth grade. Illinois is truly gaining an exceptional player and an even better person from a wonderful family. Basketball runs deep in Brandon’s family as his father, Butch Lee, was the first Puerto Rican born player to play in the NBA. He was drafted by the Atlanta Hawks in the first round of the 1978 NBA draft at pick 10. His brother, Matthew Lee, was on the St. Peter’s team that went to the Elite Eight in 2022. Matthew now plays professionally overseas in Puerto Rico.
