Everybody hold your breath, from Chicago Blackhawk fans to Team Canada supporters. The news we have is that superstar Hawk and Team Canada hopeful Connor Bedard appears to have an injury. Details are mostly unknown, but depending on the severity, this could impact the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics. We will be sure to pass along further details as they become available.
What Happened On the Possible Connor Bedard Injury
The injury occurred at the conclusion of the St. Louis Blues game on Friday night. Bedard was trying to make a quick play to the net, off the faceoff. However, Blues captain Brayden Schenn recognized this, and obstructed Bedard’s right arm with his stick. Bedard quickly made his way to the locker room.

Blackhawks head coach Jeff Blashill said that Bedard would be unavailable Saturday versus the Detroit Red Wings. Furthermore, we can expect a better update on Monday.
Connor Bedard won’t play tomorrow vs. Detroit, Jeff Blashill said.
Another update is expected Monday, Blashill said. He called it a “freak accident.”

The tough thing about this news, is the timing. Bedard has really been rolling. Not only has that been great for his Chicago Blackhawk team, but it has been important for another reason. His play this year has elevated his status within the Team Canada ranks.
In his first two years in the NHL, Bedard has been in the 60-point range. Fast forward to this season, and Bedard has jumped into another level. As of print, he is currently tied with another Team Canada hopeful, Macklin Celebrini in points. The pair of young superstars are tied for third in league scoring with 44 points. Through 31 games played for Bedard, that is a terrific point-per-game pace. With Bedard’s undeniable talent, including abilities in one-on-one situations, such as in the shootout, it was beginning to feel like there’s was no way Team Canada general manager Doug Armstrong and others could reason leaving him off the squad.
The interesting thing, is that this could give Celebrini more opportunity to crack the squad. Being young players, they have limited opportunity to make the squad. The Olympic teams need to have their rosters finalized for December 31st, 2025, for play in early February. If this is an extended injury, Bedard’s inclusion will be directly impact. Let’s hope it is nothing lengthy, but everyone will hold their breath in the meantime.
