Here’s our penultimate question in our roundtable!
The Chicago Bears have an early bye this season, so we asked our team…
What will the Chicago Bears’ record be heading into the bye week?
As a refresher, here’s how Chicago’s first four games stack up before the week five bye.
Week 1 – vs. Minnesota Vikings, 7:15 p.m. CT
Week 2 – at Detroit Lions, noon
Week 3 – vs. Dallas Cowboys, 3:25 p.m.
Week 4 – at Las Vegas Raiders, 3:25 p.m.
Give us your answer after checking out what we had to say here.
Jeff “JB” Berckes: September football is weird, but 3-1 should be the goal in the first quarter of the season. I wish the bye was a couple of weeks later, but it should provide Ben Johnson a good opportunity to recalibrate for the long stretch.
TJ Starman: I think they get off to a strong start. I could see them splitting the games 2-2, but I actually think they might take a 3-1 record into the bye with (stop me if you’ve heard this one before) Washington looking like a pivotal matchup to see if the team can keep the momentum moving.
Josh Sunderbruch: 3-1. Good enough to give hope, but with at least one loss to sting a little looking back later in the season.
Sam Householder: Optimistic me sees 3-1, but 2-2 is realistic. Minnesota is really well-coached, Detroit is kind of a coin flip because they could start slow while the new coordinators find their footing, but could also just return to form. The Raiders have a solid staff and some OK pieces, too. I think it’s trickier than some want to assume.
Dr. Mason West: 3-1
Bryan Orenchuk: I think the Bears will be 3-1 heading into their week 5 BYE, with the only loss against Detroit.
Ryan Droste: 3-1. I think getting the Vikings in week one is a good break to open the season since it will be JJ McCarthy’s first start and has the added pressure of being on the road for the Vikes in prime time. I’ll say the Bears win that one, they lose at Detroit in Ben Johnson’s homecoming the following week, before getting wins against the Cowboys and Raiders.
Lester A. Wiltfong Jr.: W, L, W, W for a 3-1 start. The Lions are a really good football team, and with it being their home opener, I can’t pick against Motown here.
