On Wednesday, the Chicago Bears announced that safety Tarvarius Moore was released. There was no corresponding transaction, so Chicago currently has one opening on the 90-man roster.
UPDATE: Safety Alex Cook was re-signed on Thursday after initially being let go on Tuesday, bringing Chicago’s offseason roster to the max.
The 28-year-old Moore began the 2024 season on the practice squad but was eventually signed to the active roster. He played in eleven games, all on special teams (185 snaps), making seven tackles.
With Cook back, that leaves him, Jonathan Owens, Elijah Hicks, and undrafted free agent rookies Major Burns and Tysheem Johnson backing up Jaquan Brisker and Kevin Byard III.
Also, in case you missed it, Chicago’s two veteran signees from yesterday, defensive end Tanoh Kpassagnon and cornerback Tre Flowers, were issued jersey numbers 69 and 37, respectively.
