Yeah, I get it, there are no banners raised for winning the offseason.
I understand we’ve seen this story unfold about the Chicago Bears as recently as last offseason, so there’s some natural ‘I need to see it to believe it’ fatigue set in for many of our fans.
But would you rather the national narrative be that the Bears won the offseason or lost the offseason?
I sure as heck would rather see kudos being heaped on my favorite team than a cavalcade of headlines predicting another disappointing year for the Bears, a last-place finish, or questions surrounding the quarterback or head coach.
The 2025 Bears have a chance to be a good football team.
Pro Football Focus recently handed out offseason grades for all 32 clubs, and only two received an A+, the Bears and the Patriots.
Here’s what they had to say about the Bears.
CHICAGO BEARS: A+
It was an ideal offseason for the Bears. They made huge splashes in their coaching staff, not just with Ben Johnson as head coach but also with Dennis Allen as defensive coordinator. They then traded for or signed Joe Thuney, Jonah Jackson and Drew Dalman to solidify their starting offensive line. That allowed them to take a “best player available” approach in the draft, which yielded Colston Loveland, Luther Burden III and Ozzy Trapilo, among others.
Chicago didn’t really address running back this offseason, but if the team was to put a lower priority on any position, that was the one.
Chicago’s offseason started with a bang as they hired the most coveted head coaching candidate. Ben Johnson then hired a proven defensive coordinator with previous head coaching experience. He filled out his staff with a good mix of young up-and-coming coaches and grizzled veterans.
The free agency period was trench-heavy on both sides of the ball, which is what this franchise desperately needed. Two more linemen were added in the second round, but the first two playmakers selected will pay immediate dividends for the offense.
Do you agree with PFF’s grade for the Bears?
