Should the Chicago Bears try to add to their running back room?

Chicago Bears fans have discussed the running back position all offseason, as many were hoping for a new number one, or at the very least, a strong complement to push for the number two job. Whether it be via free agency (Nick Chubb, J.K. Dobbins), the NFL Draft (Ashton Jeanty, Omarion Hampton, TreVeyon Henderson, Quinshon Judkins, etc.), or via trade (Kenneth Walker, Travis Etienne, or Tyler Allgeier to name a few), fans have been wondering when Ryan Poles would add to the running back room.

The draft didn’t fall in a way where Chicago could get a back early, and their lone choice at the position was in the seventh round with Rutgers‘ Kyle Monangai.

Chubb signed with the Texans yesterday, and Dobbins inked a deal with the Broncos today, so the free agency options are even thinner.

There’s always a trade possibility, but that likely wouldn’t materialize until teams are deep into training camp. If a player like Jacksonville’s Etienne looks to be buried as the number three tailback, the Jags may be willing to move him.

Seattle’s Walker seems to have the most buzz from fans, but would it be wise to trade a draft pick for a running back entering the final year of his contract?

It’s also possible the Bears hold serve until teams cut down to 53, where there’s sure to be an experienced tailback or two looking for work.

With OTAs and minicamp over, Bears brass will have plenty of time to discuss the state of the position and to explore their options.
