This 2025 season might be the time for Carolina Panthers wide receiver Adam Thielen to retire when the year concludes. According to reports, Thielen wasn’t hesitant to respond to reporters regarding his future as this 2025 campaign could be his last in the league. Originally selected as an undrafted rookie in 2013, the former Minnesota State product became one of the most elusive playmakers in the NFL, playing alongside star Stefon Diggs with the Minnesota Vikings. Due to unfortunate injuries, the Vikings let him go, and the veteran joined the Panthers on a new opportunity and didn’t hold back from making an impact on the offense.
He was the main weapon for quarterback Bryce Young and was responsible for why he saw a lot of success in his passing game. However, Thielen did consider retiring this offseason, especially after taking a pay cut to stay with the Panthers, which could have signaled that a trade may be in the works. Despite that, the Panthers are not looking to trade him, but it doesn’t mean it’s not impossible. The wide receiver isn’t getting younger and hasn’t won a Super Bowl, even though he had a lot of talent to show for in his prime.
Since the team got Tetairoa McMillan in this year’s draft, the least the Panthers could do is grant Thielen a request for release so he could head to a contender. If the opportunity presents itself at any point this offseason or during the regular season, there’s no doubt Thielen could take it with these two teams.
REPORT: Panthers Legend Adam Thielen Could Retire After 2025 Season – Chiefs, Ravens Likely to Intervene
Helping Mahomes’ Pass Game
This would be a no-brainer for both sides if it comes down to it. Adam Thielen mentioned before that he was trying to join the Kansas City Chiefs until the Carolina Panthers got him in free agency. As of this posting, the Chiefs have an “ok” list of pass catchers, depending on whether Xavier Worthy and Rashee Rice can stay out of trouble. Marquise Brown is just a short-term option for this department, so the Chiefs should probably get another receiver in case they lose any of their three projected starters this upcoming 2025 season.
It would be a perfect opportunity for Thielen to thrive for at least one year under a winning roster for the first time in several seasons. The veteran might not be the same, but Patrick Mahomes knows how to spread success to his pass catchers. Thielen doesn’t need to be perfect to make an impact in this Super Bowl offense.
Lamar Jackson’s New Weapon?
It’s an interesting situation for the Baltimore Ravens offense. They seem to be rolling the dice on temporary veterans to help relieve Zay Flowers and Rashod Bateman. Odell Beckham Jr. was just one example of that, and DeAndre Hopkins is the next one who is hoping to help Baltimore finally win a ring. If they don’t bring in a championship, they could bet their future on Adam Thielen as the third man receiver that could help Lamar Jackson get a trophy.
