The Miami Dolphins want to trade cornerback Jalen Ramsey, and while he’s still a part of the team, one report suggests the organization may have no choice but to part ways with the former All-Pro. A first-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, Ramsey isn’t the lockdown force he was at the beginning of his career, but he remains one of the league’s better starters. Last year, the cornerback recorded two interceptions, 11 passes defended, and a 76.9 PFF grade, the 11th-best mark in the league out of 116 eligible players.
Despite this strong play, the Dolphins and Jalen Ramsey both announced they were looking for a trade prior to the NFL Draft. While nothing has come to fruition, Sports Illustrated‘s Albert Breer suggests it’s only a matter of time until this divorce is finalized. In a recent article, the NFL analyst said the Dolphins are “past the point of no return” with Ramsey. He followed this up by saying a trade will happen “on the doorstep of [training] camp.”

Next Teams
Los Angeles Rams
The Los Angeles Rams are the clear favorites in the Jalen Ramsey trade sweepstakes, and it’s easy to see why. The two sides spent part of four seasons together, winning the Super Bowl in 2021, and head coach Sean McVay is clearly a fan of the cornerback. With Matthew Stafford playing on a year-to-year basis, the Rams must make the most of what could be his final season and go all-in on the upcoming campaign.
Atlanta Falcons
The Atlanta Falcons believe they have the tools to compete with second-year quarterback Michael Penix leading the offense. While they addressed their pass rush with first-round picks Jalon Walker and James Pierce, they must still do something about the secondary. A Jalen Ramsey trade would be the perfect way to address the last real flaw in the defense and increase the team’s odds of competing in a wide-open NFC South.
Carolina Panthers
After successfully building an offense that can support quarterback Bryce Young in 2024, the Carolina Panthers spent 2025 building a defense. While they’ve added several key players in the front seven, they could still use another cornerback to pair with Pro Bowler Jaycee Horn and Mike Jackson. A Jalen Ramsey trade would give this team all the defensive firepower it needs to support Young following his late 2024 breakout.
Los Angeles Chargers
Head coach Jim Harbaugh guided the Los Angeles Chargers to the playoffs in what should have been a rebuilding year, and now the team has their sights set on a Super Bowl. While the team spent big to fortify the offensive line and improve the running game, they didn’t do all that much to solidify the defense. Tarheeb Still looks like the real deal, but this team needs another cornerback to slow down the elite passing attacks of the AFC. A Jalen Ramsey trade should give this team enough strength to compete in arguably the league’s most competitive division.
