NFL Analyst Predicts The End For Saints Alvin Kamara

July 6, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Football

New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara is easily the most recognizable player on the offense, but is his time as an elite weapon coming to a close? Now entering his age-30 season, the former third-round pick is past the point where running backs usually slow down and will be playing behind a poor offensive line with inexperienced quarterbacks under center. With all this in mind, is it time to avoid Kamara in fantasy football?

According to Bleacher Report’s Mo Moton, that answer is ‘yes.’ In a recent article, the analyst made his case for why Alvin Kamara will finish outside the top 25 players at his position while painting a grim picture for his future.

“If the Saints are in catch-up mode for most of their games, that could minimize Kamara’s role on the ground,” Moton writes. “Moreover, entering his age-30 season, he also might cede carries to 2023 third-rounder Kendre Miller and Cam Akers. The five-time Pro Bowler hasn’t logged more than 240 carries or 950 rushing yards in any of his eight seasons.”

Alvin Kamara Predicted to Disappoint On Saints

Ironically, Moton’s examples could actually be used as reasons to invest in Alvin Kamara in fantasy football. The Saints have a bad team and probably won’t spend too much time running out the clock, which will limit Kamara’s overall carries. However, the five-time Pro Bowler has always done more damage in the receiving game, and the Saints will probably have to throw late in games during garbage time.

This is a good thing for Alvin Kamara, as he could be the Saints second target in these types of situations. In addition to being an above-average receiving back, Kamara also benefits from his inexperienced quarterbacks. Whether it’s Spencer Rattler or second-round pick Tyler Shough, whoever is under center will probably turn to their checkdown option behind a weak offensive line.

As for Miller and Akers, it’s hard to imagine those two playing a large role in this offense. Akers has never been the same since tearing his Achilles, as he’s bounced around the league and never carved out a major role. Miller, meanwhile, has done nothing of note through his first two years in the league.

Alvin Kamara isn’t the same unstoppable force he was in the late 2010s, and the offense’s lack of firepower means he probably won’t find the endzone too frequently in 2025. While these two factors put a limit on his ceiling, his workload and presumed target share should keep him as a top-25 fantasy football running back, barring injury.
