Micah Parsons’ Extension Date Seemingly Confirmed, Insider Projects Highest Non-QB Deal

July 19, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Football

Micah Parsons and the Dallas Cowboys’ contract extension saga continues this month. Recently, the star LB appeared on a “Six Feet Under” Podcast with WWE superstar The Undertaker. During an interview, when Undertaker asked him about the most-awaited contract extension, Parsons called out Jerry Jones for dragging his feet and making him wait. His voice seemed full of frustration and helplessness after saying he was expecting the extension deal last year.

There is only a question of ‘when’ and not ‘if’. That’s why Andrew Brandt, an NFL insider, former vice president of the Green Bay Packers, and a long-time senior writer, revealed an expected date of Micah Parsons’ contract extension.

Andrew Brandt posted on Twitter, “Re Micah Parsons, if history is a guide (Lamb, Prescott), the Cowboys will wait until the end of training camp and then pay him at the top of the market. Hard to know why, but that’s been their mode of operation.” The Dallas Cowboys report to start their training camp in Oxnard, California, on July 20, where July 22 will be the first day of Brian Schottenheimer coaching his players. The training camp is gonna end on August 13, 2025. So, can we expect his contract extension deal after August 13? Let’s wait and watch how Jones is going to make this final decision.

The Wait is Expected to End in the Highest-Paid Deal

Since the 2025 NFL free agency period started, the discussion swirling around Texas is that Parsons is going to get rewarded with an extension this year. But it looks like a rollercoaster ride for the star LB. Recently, when he gave an interview on the WWE star, Undertaker’s podcast, Micah shared his views on the same issue.

Micah Parsons said, on July 17, 2025, “We obviously want to get done early. We want that relief off our backs. But obviously, ownership is always gonna drag out, making it more complicated than it has to be from a lack of communication standpoint. But you know, I just always say, God has me this far. He ain’t done with me yet. So you know, I just keep working, keep going. And then when they come, I’m gonna be ready.” Though Micah and NFL experts believe that he will get a big contract.

It was reported that the Cowboys are taking time to confirm Parsons’ deal, as T.J. Watt is also in the Steelers’ line to get his deal done. The simple reason behind this rumor was that the Cowboys and Micah himself want to become the highest-paid non-QB in NFL history. Well, there is only one person who can make this happen- the legendary owner of the Dallas Cowboys, Jerry Jones.
