A 27-year-old man was fatally wounded Wednesday night on the South Side in the Douglas neighborhood, Chicago police said.
Shortly before 10 p.m., officers responded to a call of a person shot in the 3500 block of South Rhodes Avenue and found a man lying unresponsive on the ground. Residents of a nearby large apartment building reported hearing gunfire and saw several police vehicles and an ambulance shortly after the shooting.
The victim had suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was taken to UChicago Medicine where he was pronounced dead.
No one was in custody for the fatal shooting and detectives were investigating.
