“I Think That Would Be Dope” – NFL Legend Free Agent Hints at Possible Reunion

July 6, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Football

After spending at least one season away from the NFL, this future legend, Jason Pierre Paul, could have one last reunion with the New York Giants. According to a report, Pierre Paul isn’t closing the door to reunite with the Giants as he’s winding down on an illustrious career in the league. The two-time Super Bowl champion didn’t garner any interest last offseason, but this could be his real last opportunity to find work before he decides it’s time to retire. It might be difficult for the future Hall of Famer to find a home since the last time he spent in the league, the linebacker/defensive end spent the entire 2023 campaign between the Saints and Dolphins practice squads.

“Tremendous,” he said of a potential reunion with the Giants. “To go back somewhere where my career started.. the fans know me and know the type of player that I am. I’ll always be that type of player and give ’em everything I got.”

It’ll be interesting if Pierre Paul gets one last hoorah in the league before he can finally retire. Originally selected in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft, the former South Florida product spent the majority of his career with the Giants before joining the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he became a key contributor to their win in the Super Bowl in 2020 during the Tom Brady Era. With that, here are four other teams that could be willing to bring him in for one last ride.

NFL Legend Free Agent Jason Pierre Paul Hints at Possible Reunion With Giants – 4 Other Possible Destinations

Best Fits

Los Angeles Chargers

Even though head coach Jim Harbaugh has been investing both offensively and defensively this offseason, the Los Angeles Chargers must dramatically improve the trenches unit. Da’Shawn Hand and Teair Tart aren’t easily going to pick up the slack since the team lost both Morgan Fox and Poona Ford in one offseason. They have all the cap space in the world, so it’s a little interesting what they may plan. However, Pierre Paul is way past his prime, but he could have one last juice pack left in his tank, and pairing with someone like Mack could be what the Chargers need.

Kansas City Chiefs

Meanwhile, the Kansas City Chiefs don’t need another edge rusher, but Pierre Paul could fit the role if he wants to play another Super Bowl run. He didn’t fail during his stint with the Buccaneers, so who’s to say he won’t be successful in Kansas City? No one is replacing George Karlaftis or Mike Danna, but someone like Pierre Paul could be fit to gain some vengeance in the Super Bowl if they face the Eagles again. Between Nick Bolton, Drue Tranquil and Leo Chenal, Pierre Paul could give a boost to Bolton at least.

Baltimore Ravens

Why not? Pierre Paul was in Baltimore before, and he won’t be the worst signing this team would make. The Ravens can’t afford the best defensive end, but it’s better than nothing and what they have on their roster. Between Nnamdi Madubuike, Travis Jones and Broderick Washington, the team is better off with one more run out of Pierre Paul to give Madubuike some more stability in the defensive front.

New Orleans Saints

However, the New Orleans Saints aren’t contenders, but no one should count out Pierre Paul joining a team that’s rebuilding to leave them in a better place. Opposite of Cameron Jordan, Khalen Saunders is unproven, and Pierre Paul would be the upgrade in this defensive line. He won’t last more than two seasons, but it gives the Saints some hope on defense while the team rebuilds its offense in the wake of Derek Carr’s retirement.
