It’s officially a new era in New York, the Giants are hiring former Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh, which could mean a massive trade will likely be on the verge. While running back Devin Singletary is a cut candidate this upcoming offseason, several pieces of the Giants’ offense could be dealt. Quarterback Jaxson Dart, Cam Skattebo and Malik Nabers look to be safe in this starting offense, but the same can’t be said about wide receiver Jalin Hyatt. Earlier this past 2025 regular season, the wideout was seeking a fresh start with a new team and was a potential trade candidate before the deadline in November.
Giants John Harbaugh Hiring Could Trigger a Massive Jalin Hyatt Trade
New York decided to keep Hyatt for at least one more season, which proved to be a disaster, as the team finished 4-13. It shouldn’t be surprising if the Giants make Hyatt available for a trade since he’s in the last year of his rookie deal either way. Originally selected in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft, the former Tennessee product tried to mold himself as a starting weapon for this offense. Unfortunately, the team selected Nabers in the following draft and has been utilizing Darius Slayton and Wan’Dale Robinson for the majority of the offensive reps.
Through the 2024-2025 campaigns, Hyatt is barely eclipsing 100 receiving yards. Now with Harbaugh in the building, it’s safe to say that Hyatt isn’t going to see the field again, at least in New York. The wide receiver still has plenty of potential to be a WR2 at best, and these teams could save him in a potential trade during the 2026 offseason.
Possible Next Teams
Kansas City Chiefs
With Rashee Rice expected to be suspended, the Kansas City Chiefs must do what they can to overhaul their passing offense. Marquise Brown is slated to hit the market while Xavier Worthy is healing from surgery. This means the Chiefs need some help that would benefit young receiver Jalen Royals as a capable starting weapon.
If any offense can get Hyatt in the best position, it’s the Chiefs. They’ve been able to do that in Tyquan Thornton, who has been thriving catching the football from Patrick Mahomes. It puts Hyatt in the spotlight to earn a bigger role for the 2027 season if he impresses.
Pittsburgh Steelers
Meanwhile, the Steelers will begin their rebuild process without Aaron Rodgers and head coach Mike Tomlin. Adam Thielen is retiring, and while they need a new quarterback, they have to search for new offensive threats. Calvin Austin and Roman Wilson have been decent in terms of being able to haul in catches. However, they’d benefit from bringing in Hyatt to strengthen the pass game for whoever becomes the new quarterback of this offense.
This buys Hyatt time and the quarterback, so they can work together in the new building for them and establish a connection for the long haul if Hyatt winds up winning the WR2 role next to DK Metcalf.
Carolina Panthers
The Carolina Panthers have a promising roster after losing to the Rams in the wild-card. They came close to advancing, but the inexperience wasn’t enough to move on to the next round. Rookie Tetairoa McMillan is the future of this receiving unit alongside Jalen Coker. Everyone in Carolina still has faith in Bryce Young, but it’s still something to watch. Either way, the team could trade Xavier Legette, who has been struggling for the past two seasons for the Panthers.
If that happens, Hyatt could be an intriguing name as a replacement if Legette is traded.
