With all three of the Bears’ second-round draft picks from the 2025 NFL draft officially under contract, we’re taking a deep dive into their first four picks on the eve of the first camp practice.

The Chicago Bears had a big day on Saturday, July 19th, as all three second-round draft picks from the 2025 NFL draft signed their contract. Late last week, there were only three second-round picks from this year’s draft that had signed their rookie deals.

After officially being under contract with the Bears, all rookies reported to Halas Hall on Saturday. The team’s first full, closed practice will take place the morning of Wednesday, July 23rd.

In honor of Bears’ rookies reporting to training camp and the whole draft class officially being under contract, let’s dive into the team’s first four 2025 draft picks.

Round 1, Pick 10: Coleston Loveland, TE

This 6’6, 243 pound tight-end played three seasons at the University of Michigan. During those three seasons, Loveland played 39 games, starting in 24 of them. He had 117 catches for 1,466 yards, 12.5 yards per reception, and scored 11 touchdowns.

Loveland grew up on a farm in Gooding, Idaho where he attended Gooding High School. In a recent interview he did with chicagobears.com, he celebrated the secluded, peaceful nature of the country lifestyle and acknowledged the stark difference between the pace of living in a big city like Chicago and a rural town in Idaho.

Per 247 Sports, he was ranked as the 10th overall tight end in the 2022 CFB class and ranked 1st overall in the state of Idaho.

Loveland will wear #84 for Bears.

Round 2, Pick 39: Luther Burden III, WR

Many fans were pleasantly surprised when Burden fell to the 2nd round as he was the 2nd ranked wide receiver and 14th ranked player nationally from his class. However, falling to the 2nd round hasn’t discouraged this stud skill player; instead, it has only acted as motivation for Burden to prove the league wrong.

Burden played three seasons for the University of Missouri, starting in 33 out of the 38 games he played. During his time at Missouri, he had 192 catches for 2,263 yards and scored 26 touchdowns. He averaged 11.8 yards per reception.

Growing up in East St. Louis, IL, Burden is the second-youngest child of 10 and has nine sisters.

He becomes the first Bears second-rounder to ever receive a fully-guaranteed contract. He will wear #87.

Round 2, Pick 56: Ozzy Trapilo, OL

Ozzy Trapilo, a 6 ‘8, 316-pound offensive lineman was the Bears 3rd draft pick. His height is not the only thing notable about this rookie. Per On Tap Sports Net, over the 772 offensive snaps he took in his final year at Boston College, Trapilo committed zero penalties. Even more, he only committed five total penalties throughout his four-year career at Boston College.

During his tenure at Boston College, Trapilo played both left and right tackle, starting in 36 out of the 44 games he played. Per 247 Sports, he ranked 80th nationally and 7th among other offensive linemen in his class. Trapilo will be following in his dad’s footsteps, Steve Trapilo, who also played at Boston College where he was an All-American OL. His dad went on to play for the New Orleans Saints for five seasons.

Trapilo will wear #75 and will be competing with Braxton Jones and Kiran Amegadjie for the starting left tackle job.

Round 2, Pick 62: Shemar Turner, DL

Before getting drafted to the Bears, Turner played four seasons at Texas A&M University from 2021 to 2024. He started in 35 out of the 43 games he played at Texas A&M where he totaled 115 tackles, 10 sacks, and 22.5 tackles for loss. He also forced three fumbles.

Per 247 Sports, Turner was nationally ranked 52nd and was ranked 10th overall defensive lineman in his class. He’s 6’ 3 and weighs 290 pounds.

Turner is a Texas native from a suburb of Dallas and attended DeSoto High School. He will wear #95 for the Bears.
