Dynasty Rookie Quarterback Rankings and Analysis

June 24, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Football

It’s been two months since the 2025 NFL Draft passed, and there was a ton of drama surrounding the quarterback position with the slide of Shedeur Sanders. Having time to reflect and analyze, here are the top ten rookie quarterbacks rankings for dynasty fantasy football, with a complete analysis of each player.

Analysis and Rankings for Rookie Quarterbacks

1. Cam Ward

Ward was the number one overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft by the Tennessee Titans, and he is the number one rookie quarterback for dynasty fantasy football. Ward is the only rookie quarterback from this class who is guaranteed to be the Week 1 starter for their team. The Titans built the rest of the Draft around Ward, selecting Chimere Dike and Elic Ayomanor in addition to tight end Gunnar Helm. They will support the team’s number one wide receiver, Calvin Ridley. Although this is not the best supporting cast in the NFL, Ward is set up to succeed in the NFL. Ward has the highest floor among any rookie quarterback, but he does not have the highest ceiling.

2. Jaxson Dart

The New York Giants traded back up into the 1st Round of the Draft to select Dart. Dart will start the season sitting behind veterans Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston. Dart is currently impressing in training camp and could become the starter as the season progresses. He is only 21 years old, which is much younger than most of the other quarterbacks in this class. Even if he sits all year, he will enter 2026 as the starter. Dart and wide receiver Malik Nabers could turn into one of the most entertaining duos to watch for the next few seasons.

3. Jalen Milroe

The Seattle Seahawks shook up their quarterback room in 2025, trading away Geno Smith while signing Sam Darnold and drafting Milroe. Milroe has the highest ceiling of any quarterback from this year’s class. He has some throwing issues but is the most athletic rookie quarterback. He had 20 rushing touchdowns last season at Alabama. Dual-threat quarterbacks have taken over fantasy football, which gives Milroe an immense upside if he gets a chance to start. Darnold is not the scariest competition for Milroe. Milroe will get reps in 2025 and should play a larger role in 2026. Draft Milroe wherever you get the chance in dynasty leagues as he has the potential to blow through his ADP, as he comes in third in the dynasty rookie quarterback rankings.

4. Shedeur Sanders

Sanders was a projected first-round pick in the Draft, but he fell to the fifth round where the Cleveland Browns finally selected him. Talent was not the issue for him, but his off-the-field concerns led to his slide. The Browns quarterback room is a mess, but Sanders is the most talented quarterback by far. If Sanders can avoid further off-the-field issues, he can and will win the starting job at some point in 2025 and beyond. Sanders is too talented to not be a starting quarterback in the league. He has great value in dynasty rookie drafts due to his fall, and fantasy managers should take advantage of that.

5. Tyler Shough

Shough is a 25-year-old quarterback drafted in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft by the New Orleans Saints. Derek Carr shockingly retired, so Shough is in line to start over Spencer Rattler and Jake Haener. Shough could be one of just two rookie quarterbacks to start in Week 1 in 2025. However, his ceiling is not that high. All three of Dart, Milroe, and Sanders are more talented, athletic, and have a higher dynasty upside than Shough, even if they are not Day 1 starters.

6. Will Howard

The Pittsburgh Steelers passed on Sanders multiple times during the Draft, before finally selecting Howard in the sixth round. Of course, the Steelers then decided to sign Aaron Rodgers to a one-year contract. Howard will not start in 2025 unless Rodgers is injured, but he will get the chance to learn behind one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time. Assuming Rodgers does not come back for another season, Howard will have a much better chance to be the starting quarterback in 2026 if he can beat out Mason Rudolph.

7. Dillon Gabriel

Before drafting Sanders, the Browns took Gabriel in the third round, which came as a surprise to everyone. Not only does Gabriel have to beat out Sanders for the job, but he also has to beat out Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett. Gabriel does not have the talent to beat Sanders.

8. Riley Leonard

The Indianapolis Colts signed Daniel Jones and drafted Leonard to compete with the struggling and injured Anthony Richardson. If Richardson can not stay healthy, and Jones struggles like he did with the Giants last season, Leonard could see reps.

9. Quinn Ewers

The Miami Dolphins drafted Ewers to back up Tua Tagovailoa. Tagovailoa has struggled with many injuries, so Ewers could get the chance to start if those injuries continue. Ewers is an injury-dependent handcuff quarterback.

10. Kyle McCord

Another injury-dependent quarterback is McCord, who will not see playing time unless Jalen Hurts is injured. However, he still has to beat out Tanner McKee and Dorian Thompson-Robinson, but he rounds out the top ten of the dynasty rookie quarterback rankings.
