Chicago Bears starting running back D’Andre Swift missed last week’s game with a groin injury, but the former second-round pick should be back on the field for Week 10. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Georgia product is “expected to play” and will likely maintain his starting job.

D’Andre Swift Injury Update: Bears RB “Expected to Play” Against Giants
Swift’s presumed return is great news for the Bears, as the running back is in the midst of arguably the best season of his career. Starting and appearing in seven games, the high-priced veteran has recorded 464 yards and four touchdowns on 100 attempts, good for 4.6 yards per carry. Additionally, Swift has added an additional 18 receptions for 192 yards and one touchdown through the air.
While D’Andre Swift will return from his injury, he might not be a full workhorse back. Seventh-round rookie Kyle Monangai played remarkably well in Swift’s absence, recording 176 rushing yards on 26 carries against a weak Cincinnati Bengals defense. Nobody should expect him to maintain that type of efficiency throughout an entire season, but the rookie has recorded a solid 362 yards and one touchdown through the first eight games of the season.
No matter which running back starts, the Chicago Bears should find success against the New York Giants. While first-round pick Jaxson Dart has had his moments, the team as a whole lacks the talent to go blow for blow with this offense. Even as he returns from injury, look for D’Andre Swift to have a productive day with a good shot of finding the endzone. Kyle Monangai, meanwhile, might earn a larger share of the work but will probably remain a clear backup.
