Colin Cowherd Reacts To Justin Fields Trade: ‘It’s The Right Move’

While more than a few Chicago Bears fans appear to be shaking their fists at Bears general manager Ryan Poles right now, Fox Sports’ Colin Cowherd seems proud that Poles pulled the trigger and moved off quarterback Justin Fields.

In a video shared by The Volume on X a short while ago, Cowherd said that he likes the move for the Bears because it adds the clarity of being able to draft top quarterback prospect Caleb Williams without any extra hand-wringing. He also thinks that Williams will be better set up for early success thanks to the moves the team has made this offseason.

“It’s the right move. Caleb Williams is a greater prospect. You can restart the salary clock. And I think Caleb is going to have some success with the acquisition of Keenan Allen. I like what the Bears are doing. When you have a declining asset, move quickly – don’t wait. You want Caleb to come in. It’s his building, his offense – all the focus for him,” Cowherd said.

As for the fit Fields now makes for the Steelers, Cowherd believes that he gives the Steelers an extra option at quarterback in case their other newly-acquired quarterback, Russell Wilson, struggles.

“As far as the Steelers, I really like the move. Russell Wilson is a declining player who was more of a B quarterback last year… (Mike) Tomlin’s not an offensive guy. Fields is more athletic, bigger and has some upside. Wouldn’t surprise me if Russell wins the starting job, he struggles, they go with Justin Fields. It’s a good counter-punch. I like it…”

It certainly seems to be a move that benefits everyone.

Who do you think wins the trade?
