Wednesday’s Chicago White Sox game against the Philadelphia Phillies at Rate Field has started after a weather delay of 3 hours, 35 minutes.
Wednesday’s game, originally slated for a 1:10 p.m. start, is the rubber match of the series after the Sox won 6-2 on Monday and the Phillies won 6-3 on Tuesday.
Tyler Alexander started for the Sox. Adrian Houser was the original scheduled starter, but he has been mentioned in trade speculation. The trade deadline is Thursday.
“We’re going to start with Alexander, and it’ll be a bullpen day beyond that,” Sox manager Will Venable said before the game. “We’ll have (Mike) Vasil multiple innings. We won’t see Dan Altavilla. But outside of that, everyone will have to contribute today.
“With Houser, we were transparent with him, just the market around him and the potential for a trade. Just thought it was in everyone’s best interest to switch starters today.”
