There was some buzz coming from Hallas Hall the last two days of mandatory minicamp, and, surprisingly, considering it’s June, it was the Chicago Bears offense that had beat reporters taking notice.
In a recent hit with ESPN, Courtney Cronin wrapped up some of what she witnessed, including the trick play auditions from the offensive linemen and quarterbacks yesterday, but she also mentioned how much better the offense has looked overall.
“On offense, it’s the proficiency of Caleb Williams, the final two days of minicamp, that stood out,” she said. “For the most part this spring, [head coach] Ben Johnson said that the defense has gotten the better of the offense, that seemed to shift this week.”
She said defensive tackle Andrew Billings told her that Williams’ cadence had caused a couple of defenders to jump offsides and that Caleb looked “sharp” in their end-of-game and end-of-half situations.
Cronin discussed Williams playing smart, taking what the defense gave him during 11 on 11s, which “has Williams, Johnson, and the whole offense feeling pretty good as minicamp comes to an end.”
