After the development hasn’t been working in Baltimore, the Ravens could release linebacker David Ojabo before the 2025 regular season. According to a report, Ojabo is likely a release candidate this time around as he enters the final year of his contract. Originally selected in the 2022 NFL Draft, the former Michigan product hasn’t been able to live up to expectations after tearing his Achilles shortly before being selected by the Ravens. The team still took a chance on him either way, but it hasn’t been paying off like the Ravens have been hoping, and it only makes sense to release him if he can’t keep up with other talent like Odafe Oweh and Kyle Van Noy.
The pass-rushing unit in Baltimore consists of Tavius Robinson, Adisa Isaac, and 2025 second-round pick Mike Green, for depth. After losing Malik Harrison this offseason, the Ravens can’t afford to cut Ojabo. Even though the linebacker department hasn’t been the same in recent memory, when the team lost Jadeveon Clowney in 2024, they could still consider parting ways with Ojabo. Green might receive a bigger role, but the only implicating factor is that Oweh and Van Noy are also in their contract years, so the Ravens have a huge decision to make when trimming the roster before the 2025 regular season, so it shouldn’t be a surprise if Ojabo is a free agent by then.

Possible Destinations
New Orleans Saints
After Derek Carr’s retirement, the New Orleans Saints don’t really have a blueprint for their offense anymore. This means the team will struggle offensively between Tyler Shough and Spencer Rattler, so they will likely have to lean on a solid defense to keep them within games. The Saints did make a couple of moves defensively to improve the unit, including Davon Godchaux, Justin Reid and re-signing Chase Young. These are all solid additions and returnees, but they need a replacement in their pass-rushing unit.
Demario Davis is past his prime, and Willie Gay left in free agency. Pete Werner needs a solid depth piece at least to keep them afloat. Ojabo might have been disastrous, but he could fit the bill with the Saints if he becomes available.
Washington Commanders
The Washington Commanders have rebuilt a culture that looks like they’re a team with a winning record for the next decade. However, just because Jayden Daniels is on fire, it doesn’t mean they should ignore improving the defense. They haven’t done much, but sign Deatrich Wise Jr., and while they’re bringing Bobby Wagner back, they could use someone like Ojabo to share the snaps with Dominique Hampton. He won’t make an impact on every snap, but it keeps the Commanders in the right scenery to upgrade even though they’re not looking to improve the defensive line anymore this offseason at least.
Carolina Panthers
Meanwhile, the Carolina Panthers might not be contenders this upcoming season, but they have a roster that could be special for a possible turnaround. After signing Tershawn Wharton, Bobby Brown and Christian Rozeboom to upgrade the unit, they could use a replacement for Jadeveon Clowney, whom they released this offseason. Ojabo isn’t the ideal guy to take over for Clowney, but it’s better than no depth at all.
