Breaking: NFL Insider Predicts This Latest Blockbuster Trade – 4 Logical Suitors

July 6, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Football

Despite signing a three-year deal this offseason, one NFL insider believe the New England Patriots could trade wide receiver Stefon Diggs. According to one report, Greg Bedard of Boston Sports Journal predicts Diggs might be on the trade block even though the Patriots got him in free agency this offseason to salvage their receiving corps. Originally selected in the fifth round of the 2015 NFL Draft, the former Maryland product sparked controversy this offseason after signing his new contract on a boat incident. Diggs didn’t face any punishment from the league, but it’s something to watch if the Patriots still have that same trust after investing in him.

It’s hard to imagine the team would welcome a trade already before the 2025 regular season, but if Diggs continues to raise off-field issues, the Patriots might consider it. Free agent signee Mack Hollins and 2025 draft pick Kyle Williams are locked to make the starting roster behind him, and the team has plenty of depth at the wideout position already, so it wouldn’t be the worst idea if it comes down to the Patriots moving on. If for whatever reason, Diggs doesn’t become a reliable No. 1 wide receiver, they could just lean on other talent to step up for the time being to find some homegrown talent for quarterback Drake Maye. Diggs might not last more than a season in New England and these four teams could take a chance on him.

Breaking: NFL Insider Predicts Latest Blockbuster Involving Stefon Diggs Trade – 4 Logical Suitors

Best Fits

Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys might as well get another possible dynamic wide receiver despite trading for George Pickens this offseason. Jalen Tolbert is entering his contract year, and he’s a WR3 for the offensive unit, so this is his last chance to prove that he can earn another deal. If he doesn’t, they could trade for Diggs to not only depend on CeeDee Lamb and Pickens in the deep threat route, while Dak Prescott slings it to the slot in a potential reliable receiver like Diggs.

New Orleans Saints

Meanwhile, the New Orleans Saints need all the weapons they can get to give either Tyler Shough or Spencer Rattler a fighting chance to secure their starting duties. Between Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed, these are the only weapons in this unit that will probably stick around for a long time. Even though they signed Brandin Cooks, he’s way past his prime, and Diggs is arguably the better option if he becomes available in the trade market.

Los Angeles Chargers

However, the Los Angeles Chargers are in dire need of a reliable weapon to build a capable passing unit for quarterback Justin Herbert. Between Ladd McConkey, Quentin Johnston, Mike Williams and Tre Harris, McConkey is most likely the only receiver who has the longevity to make a worthy impact on the offense. Williams is washed up, and Johnston is on the hot seat entering the 2025 campaign. Diggs could immediately upgrade the wideout room and become at least a WR2.

Kansas City Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs don’t need another wide receiver this upcoming season, but it doesn’t hurt to continue building the depth. Rashee Rice, Xavier Worthy and Marquise Brown will likely be the main contributors to Patrick Mahomes’ offense, but Diggs could complete this package deal to a real fiery unit. If any team can get an athlete back in the right mindset from off-field issues, it’s the Chiefs.
