Breaking: Former Vikings Sixth Rounder Named Potential Trade Candidate

May 11, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Football

To no one’s surprise, the Minnesota Vikings may make wide receiver Jalen Nailor available for a trade before the 2025 regular season. Many reports indicate the Vikings could be on the verge of trading Nailor to a new roster since he could become expendable. After drafting Tai Felton despite them having a solidified wide receiver group, it seems like it didn’t stop the Vikings from drafting him. It’s critical to mention that Minnesota only had five draft picks, and they already have several holes in other areas, but they went with Felton to salvage the receiver room.

Jordan Addison also came up in the trade conversations since he may be looking for the best contract available soon after two back-to-back enormous seasons, topping 1,000 yards each. However, it makes sense that the Vikings could trade Nailor to save them some cap space, and it would help them a lot to have Felton as their emerging No. 3 receiver behind Justin Jefferson and Addison. For Nailor, he’s entering the final year of his contract, and there haven’t been any discussions of an extension. The Vikings will be better off saving all of their resources when it’s time to extend Addison, and that would solidify their two dynamic receivers to stay on this offense for a long time.

With Nailor on the brink of a trade, these five teams may pursue him if Felton has a strong preseason this year.

Next Possible Teams

Los Angeles Chargers

Despite signing Mike Williams and Tyler Conklin, the Los Angeles Chargers are in dire need of a long-term wide receiver. The Chargers are looking into reuniting with Keenan Allen, but it’s hard to imagine both Allen and Williams are the same anymore. Head Coach Jim Harbaugh may be old-school, but he should be embracing the rebuild to give 2024 draft pick Ladd McConkey a clear future on this team. With that, they should take a chance on Nailor, and the Chargers won’t lose much if they trade for him now before his contract expires.

Dallas Cowboys

The same can be said about the Dallas Cowboys. They got wideout George Pickens in a trade that could turn into a potential contract extension if he impresses. CeeDee Lamb and Pickens are the new dynamic duo, but Jalen Tolbert could use some help to fortify this offensive pass attack. It shouldn’t be surprising if the Cowboys target another wide receiver like Nailor before the 2025 regular season.

Washington Commanders

Meanwhile, the Washington Commanders surprised a lot of fans across the league last year under head coach Dan Quinn, making it to the NFC Championship Game. They’re hoping to do the same, and quarterback Jayden Daniels could use the depth to upgrade the pass offense. Nailor could be a capable long-term weapon behind Terry McLaurin and Deebo Samuel as the No. 3 receiver while Luke McCaffrey continues to look for ways to break out finally.

Chicago Bears

There have been rumors since the end of the 2025 NFL Draft that the Bears could trade DJ Moore following the selection of Luther Burden. Since Cole Kmet is in those same conversations after they drafted Colston Loveland, the Bears might be enforcing the rebuild. If that’s the case, they should take on a guy like Nailor to streamline their unit only if they decide to trade away Moore.

Baltimore Ravens

However, the Baltimore Ravens need some stability in their receiving room. Rashod Bateman is the clear No. 2 receiver behind Zay Flowers following the rumors that the Dallas Cowboys were looking to trade for him. However, the Ravens aren’t looking to move on, and Nailor could fit in this scheme once free agent signee DeAndre Hopkins retires next year.
