Frustrations are still growing with the Philadelphia Eagles’ offense despite being 4-0, and this could lead to Devonta Smith requesting a trade. According to new reports, Smith is the latest wide receiver in this offense who isn’t happy with how the offense is turning out. AJ Brown has been vocal about it, but Smith kept it to himself, reportedly, so things might get interesting here sooner rather than later. To no fault of their own, both Smith and Brown haven’t got much of the ball in the aerial attack, while the Eagles have been focusing on the run between quarterback Jalen Hurts and running back Saquon Barkley.
While the Eagles aren’t losing games, it’s going to get interesting to see what the future holds for the receiving unit. The Eagles might be really 1-3 by a couple of plays, but things could spice up if they begin to lose games, which may lead to more frustrations within the organization. With that, Smith and Brown take up at least $50 million in cap space, and sooner than expected, the Eagles will have to decide on their futures. Brown has been the subject of trade rumors since last season, even though they won a Super Bowl, but Smith could go along with him.
Originally selected in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft, the former Alabama product became one of the biggest contributors on this offense before the Eagles focused on the ground game and defense. The Eagles have a lot to play with here if they want to lead in the direction of building more of an edge rush and running back room rather than the pass, and this could lead to a trade involving Smith.

Possible Next Teams
Baltimore Ravens
The Baltimore Ravens probably won’t be postseason contenders since Lamar Jackson is nursing an injury and won’t be back to turn things around. At 1-3, the team is betting on veteran Cooper Rush to somehow keep this roster afloat, but the chances of that happening are low. Baltimore had one of the best receiving units between Zay Flowers, Rashod Bateman, DeAndre Hopkins and somehow the Ravens haven’t been able to close out their last losses.
If Hopkins decides to test the market next offseason, they could try to trade for Smith. While he did sign an extension last season with the Eagles, the Ravens could try to poach him in the right situation and get him more touches along with Flowers and Bateman.
Los Angeles Chargers
Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Chargers are almost a complete team this season after their 3-1 start. With the team nursing injuries between the running back room and the offensive line, it might not be their year. Justin Herbert is playing his best football, and if things fall flat in the postseason next year, they should trade for Smith to pair with Ladd McConkey, KeAndre Lambert-Smith and Tre Harris. Smith might actually become their top receiver next season, which could intrigue him if Keenan Allen decides to hang up his cleats in 2026.
Miami Dolphins
However, the Miami Dolphins need some type of revival in this organization. With Tyreek Hill expected to get cut after the 2025 campaign, the Dolphins will need to search for another receiver to pair with Jaylen Waddle. If the Dolphins play their cards right by firing Mike McDaniel and finding a new adequate signal-caller, they could trade for Smith to put him in the right situation to give this team a new regime.
