We recap Bears’ practice in our usual manner, but with a special podcast version too!
The Chicago Bears are still in the middle of offensive install, according to offensive coordinator Declan Doyle, and today was their ninth of twelve install days. Dolyle also said that Caleb Williams’ “process gets better every day,” with both his pre- and post-snap operation, which is exactly what you want to hear about a quarterback learning a new offense.
Doyle said that they are still evaluating the left tackle spot, with today being a scheduled day for rookie Ozzy Trapilo to run with the ones. Braxton Jones worked with the twos and threes as Kiran Amegadjie was held out with a leg issue.
Long snapper Scott Daly is sidelined with a back injury, but starting right guard Johan Jackson returned to practice after missing a couple of days with a leg issue.
Corner Nahshon Wright continues to start with Jaylon Johnson out.
While the offense appears to be on the upswing, Chicago’s defense is still making plays, and the special teams had some nice moments today as well. All three phases need to be clicking for this team to reach its full potential.
Our guy Dr. Mason West was at camp today, so check out his Bear Bones recap here in either video…
… or podcast form.
Now on to a few Tweets from those who were at Halas Hall today. If you come across any others, be sure to share them in the comment section.
Luther Burden made a back shoulder catch look too easy in the endzone. Non chalant.#DaBears

On the first play of 7-on-7, Caleb Williams delivered a touchdown strike to Colston Loveland. That connection has been strong early in camp.

Kyler Gordon with some sticky coverage on Olamide Zaccheaus in one-on-ones. Gordon then looked to the crowd and said to the crowd that it’s okay to cheer for the defense.

A botched snap to Caleb Williams in team drills.
A consistent theme we’ve seen thus far at camp.
Definitely need to clean that up.

#Bears QB Case Keenum said Caleb Williams has been grinding and “wants it.”
His reaction to not completing this drill as he would have liked in today’s practice seems to illustrate that very point. #DaBears pic.twitter.com/ewcY1QjEta

Caleb Williams is dialed in once again, ladies and gentlemen.
Rolled out and found Rome Odunze on the backside and fired a frozen rope between defenders.
Tight window throw would be putting it mildly. Maybe his best throw of camp so far.
— Greg Braggs Jr. (@GBraggsJr23) August 2, 2025
Kyler Gordon had great press on Rome but Rome skied over him for the catch in the endzone. Gordon tried to push him out but Twinkle Toes Odunze gets his feet in for the impressive score. #DaBears

Colston Loveland is gonna be a threat in the red zone. Had a couple TDs in 7 on 7. The unique blend of size and speed will be very difficult to matchup with. #DaBears #Bears pic.twitter.com/GLmRSEwkcL

Case Keenum had a tight window TD to Colston Loveland in 7 on 7 that was a highlight of the day: “He’s friendly to throw to,” and notes that Loveland has an ability to “know where the ball is and should be,” which helps a quarterback.

KYLER GORDON JUST ABSOLUTELY BLEW UP A RUN PLAY UP THE MIDDLE.
Looked like a missle. Ran over Swift.
Spiderman bringing the energy today.
— Greg Braggs Jr. (@GBraggsJr23) August 2, 2025
Zaccheus keeps making plays. It’ll be interesting so see how WR3 battle goes and what kinds of touches he gets vs Burden.#DaBears

An encouraging play from Caleb Williams came on a checkdown to D’Andre Swift in 7 on 7s. The #Bears‘ running back was third in the progression.
Williams went from Cole Kmet in the flat to Rome in the middle of the field on a crosser to Swift on the checkdown.

#Bears Kyle Monangai ran with the 2s today!!
Coach Bieniemy worked a lot on Pass Pro during RB Indy. Monangai had some good blitz pick ups in Team Periods today.

Case Keenum and the Second team had a two minute drill down 3. They got the FG as Jonathan Kim drained the kick.

Dayo Odeyingbo got the better of Ozzy today. Solid practice for him. Showed up against the pass and run. He definitely popped today. #DaBears #Bears #ChicagoBears

Caleb Williams avoided a full house blitz in second to final period. Eluding the pocket and then lofting a TD pass to Cole Kmet in the corner of the end zone. Play highlighted his athleticism, arm talent and ability to adjust on the fly.

Noah Sewell read the play well and would have tackled Kyle Monangai for a loss on a short throw. Nice play by the linebacker. #Bears
— Zack Pearson (@Zack_Pearson) August 2, 2025
Spirited finish to #Bears practice. Caleb Williams sprinted right away from a pass rusher and heaved a TD to a wide open Cole Kmet.
On the next play, CB Nahshon Wright makes a stellar pick of Williams. He rifled a slant pass picked in th end zone.— Patrick Finley (@patrickfinley) August 2, 2025
Bit of a rough practice for RT Darnell Wright today. Montez Sweat got the better of him and there were some false start issues. Year 3 is a big season for the former 1st round pick.

#Bears QB Tyson Bagent says he loves the “intensity” and “attention to details” of this coaching staff. #DaBears pic.twitter.com/jvC4cRJJQh

Only time in Bears history I can remember being this comfortable with a quarterback 2 weeks into camp, granted he still has to do it on the field & I’m really eager for preseason but the progression Caleb has made from practice 1 to practice 10 has me optimistic
— VP of Wu Tang Financial (@BarbChairScott) August 2, 2025
Last few practices it feels like Caleb Williams and the offense are getting more and more comfortable. Another good day out there. #Bears
