4 Teams Who Could Sign Projected $36 Million Free Agent

February 17, 2026 by Last Word On Pro Football

After revitalizing his career with the Cleveland Browns, free agent veteran linebacker Devin Bush has a chance to earn a decent contract with a new team this offseason. Coming off a productive 2024 campaign, Bush believed the Browns could compete this past 2025 regular season, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. The Browns are not in a position to be a competitor anytime soon after hiring new head coach Todd Monken, which means a lot of things can change on both sides of the ball. While Bush should be prioritized for the Browns to sign him to a new deal, it might not be the case for the team that is rebuilding.

4 Teams Who Could Sign Projected $36 Million Free Agent Devin Bush

PFF gave him a surprising 85.2 grade while recording three interceptions, tied for third at the linebacker position. At rank No. 8, it comes as a surprise for many since there are plenty of defensive free agents, including Trey Hendrickson and Jaelan Phillips, who have earned their respective ranks. It doesn’t mean that Bush didn’t put in the work to get where he is now, but after struggling the first few years of his career with the Seahawks and Steelers, he finally has a chance to break out with the right opportunity next season.

Originally selected as a first-round pick, Bush won’t be a sack machine. Still, he’s versatile enough to get after the quarterback and running back as an effective tackler. Bush is entering his prime at 27, especially after recording 125 total tackles during the 2025 campaign, so here are four teams that could be interested.

Possible Fits

Dallas Cowboys

Despite trading for Quinnen Williams and Logan Wilson, there’s work to be done in the linebacker group. While the Cowboys can re-sign Jadeveon Clowney to a one-year deal, they must prioritize finding a long-term fix. Kenneth Murray Jr. and Dante Fowler Jr. didn’t do enough to convince the Cowboys that they’re fixtures of getting after the quarterback. Clowney is a gem, and with Wilson stepping into a bigger role, if they can’t get Nakobe Dean, then the Cowboys signing Bush wouldn’t be too surprising.

Kansas City Chiefs

Meanwhile, the Chiefs are at risk of losing Leo Chenal this offseason. Similar to Dallas, Kansas City doesn’t have the cap space to retain most of its talent. Chenal was solid during his stint as a Chief, but it wasn’t anything explosive for the team to prioritize signing a long-term deal. Other than Nick Bolton, the Chiefs should sign Bush to a one-year, prove-it deal to see what he has to offer.

New Orleans Saints

With long-time linebacker Demario Davis open to testing the market for the first time, the New Orleans Saints might have to move on completely to find an adequate replacement. While Davis expressed his desire to return, it will be up to the Saints to decide what to negotiate. It can go one way or the other this offseason, which means the Saints losing Davis is highly likely. At age 37, it’s not too smart for the Saints to retain, especially for a team that is slowly rebuilding.

Bush is entering his prime and could become the next vocal leader in New Orleans.

Chicago Bears

The Bears always have several free agents that they are likely to lose, but they might be forced to move on from linebacker Tremaine Edmunds due to cap space. Chicago has always been dominant defensively, no matter who walks through the doors at Soldier Field. Bush could serve as the next ferocious defensive star. Bush won’t be a prime Brian Urlacher, but when they plan to lose plenty of talent to free agency, the team signing him to at least a low-stakes deal might be the safe route they have to take.
