A 31-year-old man was among three men fatally wounded Tuesday in separate shootings on the South Side, Chicago police said.
Shortly before 8 p.m., the victim was walking in the 7400 block of South Kimbark Avenue in the South Shore neighborhood when a white vehicle pulled up and someone inside opened fire in his direction. The vehicle fled north on Kimbark, police said.
The victim suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was taken in critical condition to UChicago Medicine where he was later pronounced dead.
Earlier Tuesday, a 44-year-old man was fatally wounded in the same neighborhood in the 2500 block of East 79th Street shortly after 1 p.m., police said. He was walking when he was approached by three people, and at least one of them opened fire, striking him multiple times to the body. He was taken to the same hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Almost three hours later, a 52-year-old man was fatally shot in the 800 block of East 79th Street in the Grand Crossing neighborhood, police said.
He was inside a business when he suffered three gunshot wounds to the body, and was taken to UChicago Medicine in critical condition, but died from his injuries, police said.
The three victims have yet to be identified, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
No one was in custody for any of the fatal shootings, and detectives were investigating.
