Despite shutting down the rumors of the New Orleans Saints moving on, a report suggested that trade candidate Alvin Kamara could be on the move this offseason. According to PFF, they believe that Kamara is a possible trade candidate who could be moved due to durability concerns, and it would make things easier for the Saints to continue to rebuild under head coach Kellen Moore. While the Saints were on the rise near the end of the 2025 regular season, it seems like they need to move on from several veteran players to retool their aging roster. New Orleans has Tyler Shough as their potential long-term answer at quarterback, which means the team could bring in some fresh talent to build around him.
3 Teams That Could Target Top 15 NFL Trade Candidate Alvin Kamara
It could come at the expense of Kamara. The former five-time Pro Bowl running back has said he doesn’t intend to leave New Orleans and would rather retire before getting traded to a new team. Unfortunately for him, it won’t be up to the aging veteran, who hasn’t been the same as far as production in recent memory. After posting just 471 rushing yards and one touchdown, it’s hard to imagine the Saints would keep him beyond the 2026 campaign at least, and he’s entering the final year of his current extension.
The contract could be a lucrative deal for several potential suitors, who would eye Kamara to fill their backfield room temporarily. If there’s an opportunity to join a contender in the offseason for Kamara, he could be more inclined to take the offer, rather than “retiring” as he suggested before. There’s no way a player that still has something in the tank would give up his career to avoid playing for these three teams.
Next Possible Fits
Dallas Cowboys
The Dallas Cowboys are a better football team than they were during the 2025 season. The offense is one of the best despite their woes defensively that held them, which led to the firing of former defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus. The good news is that the Cowboys hired one of the greatest minds in Christian Parker, so fans should expect to see a massive change in their defense as far as production. Meanwhile, the Cowboys are focusing on extending George Pickens, but have to work something out for pending free agent Javonte Williams.
The former Denver Bronco had himself a resurgent career, and even if Dallas re-signs him, the Cowboys should entertain the idea of getting Kamara. Dak Prescott isn’t getting any younger, and the Cowboys almost have a perfect offense, so why not raise the stakes?
Kansas City Chiefs
The Chiefs will be moving on from several star players during the offseason due to cap space, but one major hole they must fill is the running back room. With Isiah Pacheco and Kareem Hunt likely gone, the team should either trade for a new running back or snag one in free agency. There are plenty of options out there for the Chiefs, but they should still keep an eye on Kamara. Even though the veteran said he will retire if traded, nobody should put it past him if he suits up for Kansas City, if it means playing with one of the greatest quarterbacks in the league, Patrick Mahomes.
Chicago Bears
The Bears are another intriguing spot for Kamara. Chicago went on to have one of the most phenomenal seasons in a while, led by head coach Ben Johnson. Unfortunately, the team could lose several talented players to free agency, but they must continue to salvage the offense for Caleb Williams. He’s on fire right now, and they must put him in the driver’s seat for a possible Super Bowl. D’Andre Swift still has one year left on his deal, but the Bears could easily trade him.
Kyle Monangai has outperformed him this past season. However, someone like Kamara could be a cost-effective addition for the Bears due to his experience and may get this team to the Super Bowl.
