Lonzo Ball: “I wasn’t getting in trouble like that. Melo was getting in trouble. “Honestly, some stories I can’t even say. He was really bad. Probably the worst kid I’ve ever met. He’s calmed down a lot though—I’ll give him credit for that.”

More on this storyline
Lonzo Ball: “Yeah… man, honestly, when I was in LA, I wasn’t really doing much. When I was on the road, my vets basically told me I had to stay in the room.” Cam Brink: “Really?” Lonzo Ball: “Yeah. So I wasn’t doing much. That’s why I’m in the room now. It was just some vet stuff. They’d say, ‘You can’t come out tonight,’ and I’d be like, ‘Alright, I didn’t want to go with y’all anyway.’” -via YouTube / May 20, 2025
Lonzo Ball: “For sure. If you have a good organization that’s behind you and letting you heal, that’s huge. Like—shout out to the Bulls for that. When I was going through it, a lot of teams could’ve just pushed me to the side and been like, ‘whatever.’ But they stuck with me the whole way. Having a good team behind you helps a lot, for sure.” -via YouTube / May 20, 2025
Lonzo Ball: “I’m not going to lie—I don’t leave the crib. So I DoorDash everything. Groceries, everything I need. If I have to shower and need soap—I’ll DoorDash that. Dog supplies too.” Sadel Curry-Lee: “Is that because you’re a homebody? Or because people recognize you—you can’t just go to the store?” Lonzo Ball: “More so the convenience. I just like staying home. Honestly, if I’m going to leave, I want to go to dinner. I’ll go to dinner. Other than that, or if I’m coming on this show—it’s cool to come here. But yeah, other than that, I’m pretty much at the house.” -via YouTube / May 20, 2025
Full basketball activities haven’t arrived yet for LaMelo Ball, but he’s coming along during the process. “Yeah, I’ve seen great consistency with him just trying to get himself back after his procedures,” Lee said, “getting in the gym, doing everything he can physically and mentally to get his body right. Because then that next phase after he gets himself back mentally and physically is to hit the court and try to work on some of those skill acquisitions. “But again, body is going to be one of the most important things so we can continue to have him durable.” -via Charlotte Observer / May 20, 2025
On the latest episode of “The WAE Show,” Lonzo pitched a set of circumstances that would dramatically shake up the NBA landscape. “I’ve lowkey got Dylan Harper going to the Hornets, and I’ve got Melo going to the Clips.” -via athlonsports.com / May 17, 2025
Lee will have another chance to maximize the team around Ball, but it will be on the Hornets star to do the same before rival teams start pushing trade offers Peterson’s way. The GM gave Ball a strong endorsement after the season ended, saying Ball can be as good as he wants to be and does things on the court no one else can do. Ball told reporters he loves being in Charlotte and is not feeling the need to push his way elsewhere. “So all that you need to leave and this and that, I mean, when you build something, it’s never just going to pop up and be the best thing,” Ball said during Monday’s exit interview. “So you got to stay here, work it out, do what you are going to do, and see what happens if you’re gonna try to make it work.” -via New York Times / April 17, 2025
